A man has been found guilty by a jury for raping and impregnating a female family member in a pattern of abuse that spanned years, leaving the victim with permanent injuries, including the loss of all her upper teeth.

Larry Darby, 61, was convicted at Caddo District Court in Louisiana on charges of aggravated rape, two counts of aggravated incest, and sexual battery. The rape conviction carries a mandatory life sentence, and he could face up to an additional 50 years in prison when sentenced on January 27, according to Judge Chris Victory.

Testimonies revealed that Darby repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim from 2003 to 2009, starting when she was around 12 years old. The prolonged abuse resulted in severe physical injuries, as stated by the prosecutors,

The victim testified that Darby would beat and strangle her if she resisted, causing extensive damage to her teeth and leaving permanent scars on her neck.

She said the assaults ultimately led to her becoming pregnant and being forced to carry and give birth to his child.
