ARREST • A U.S. citizen was arrested in São Paulo accused of raping and sexually exploiting children in Rio de Janeiro.
Floyd Wallace Jr., 30, was located in the Liberdade neighborhood by officers from the
Child and Adolescent Victims Police Unit, with support from the São Paulo Civil Police.
The investigation began in early December after a ride-share driver reported that a user had used a
false name to request rides for minors. In one case, the children said they were going to meet an
older man who did not speak Portuguese. On December 18, four girls were reportedly taken from the Rocha neighborhood to Santo Cristo, in Rio’s North Zone.
According to the transportation company, the suspect used
multiple accounts with false or third-party names. He was arrested after police identified that he was in São Paulo and allegedly
planning to flee the country. A warrant was executed for
rape of a vulnerable person and facilitating child sexual exploitation, and his passport was seized.
During the operation, police confiscated
electronic devices, cell phones, a watch with a hidden camera, SIM cards, and other materials. Authorities continue investigating to identify possible accomplices and additional victims.
