I mean that's usually what these wrestlers have planned behind closed doors long before these matches even happen.
I think cena had it already in his mind how he wanted to go out in his retirement that fans didn't see coming because they wanted him to go out with a happy ending. I believe all these matches end up the same way when a wrestler is about to retire to pass the torch, they rather go out defeated instead of victory.
I think wrestling lack creativity became so many of the old carnie minded people still in the business have a theory that these old unspoken rules need to be stuck to even today. It stunts creativity imo
It should be case by case, in no way is having the make a wish hero who never gives up, giving up a good idea. I can't stand Cena as a wrestler and even I was offended lol
I mean cena decided to do that. I agree that him giving up with a smile tapping out was lame.
Gotta understand wrestlers at times come up with their own plans on how they want things to end.
Triple H has something to do with it as well since he wanted gunther to go out on top defeating cena in his last match but it shouldn't have ended easily with him giving up.
WWE lack creativity which is why they're boring to watch and the only reason I'm still watchin it is because I love to see them women wrestlers with a phat ass being half naked.
Honest we don't know who decided on that ending, everything the WWE says is under the guise of kayfabe, and unreal will only further muddy the waters, if it was his idea then tko and HHH failed at reigning in the talent and making big decisions, if it was HHH and company then they're creatively bankrupt, either way it's a bad look.

As for Cena/Gunther,
I like Gunther and I think he puts on some banger matches. I really don't get yhe hate in here. Besides, I was hoping for an surprise Edge appearance the whole time.
