Agreed. Even the quality of materials too. I went to a Champion outlet store in Oregon just before the mid-90s. Bought a bunch of jerseys and team practice tees on the cheap (stuff was like $4 - 5 each). They were factory 2nds with design errors that you couldn't outright see.
Those practice t-shirts were thick and durable and held up well into the 2010s.
