Nah. It was just Bays vision for Transformers and his childish (White sense of humor) behavior. I don't think you needed to be a fan, but you need to respect the property. Also, and this could have been due to budget or technology at the time but it focused way too much on humans. It made sense in the first movie. Not so much moving forward. The last film was an improvement, yet they insist on bringing Bay back. The last movie seemed to want to introduce GI JOE. if you have to have humans be primary with Transformers as support, that is the best way to do it.
They hurt the value of the franchise so much that Transformers One did poorly. They just continue with Transformers One. Two probably would do better since people saw or heard one was a good movie. Some debating if it's better than the original Transformers animated movie. Its definitely one or two in terms of theater releases.
