Right on, G.

It's definitely a very consistent show. Glad we're at the same point and it's nice knowing we still have a few more seasons to go, plus the additional spinoffs as well. Lots of material.
I love how they're playing into J Edgar aka Jamie Hector's Haitian heritage. He's using Haitian Creole at times, and later on in the season he said his mother's brother was killed and he used the last name Hector, his own surname.

I'm on season 6 episode 2 and J Edgar is speaking with someone who says, "You look like you need a drink"

I love the way they have J Edgar just looking exasperated and rolling his eyes like yeah bro you think, without saying a single word. That type of nonverbal communication is beautiful in the show.

I love this show

Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost

Another great warts and all documentary. A very funny couple who's act was also their lives for the most part. Thanks to their children Ben and Amy for letting us see something very personal
It's funny because this documentary struck a memory in me about my grandfather who would get so excited if i was in a play or was involved in anything that had to do with Hollywood or entertainment and he was encouraging and supportive and then some and Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara remind me so much of him

Thanks for the intel. Gonna watch for that and finish season 5 in the next few days. Gonna start season 6 with pops next week.

That’s cool re: nonverbal communication. Cool side note - I did a term assignment on that very topic back in college in the early -2000s in psych / health care!

That’s one of the things I like best about the job. Picking up on the nonverbal / body language, etc.

That’s cool re: your grandfather, JB!

Definitely a very talented, funny family featured in the doc.

Miss my grandpa too. Quiet dude. Passed in 2006. Dad’s father.

Never met my mom’s parents as they passed before I was born.

I'm absolutely horrible at recognizing nonverbal communication, I mean Dr Sheldon Cooper type horrible. And sarcasm? Nope. I might have a touch of the tism, Asperger's or something, but I've never been diagnosed. Unless it's blatant, I miss it, like goes completely over my head miss it.

You get me a book, I can read it, but people? I've got no fucking clue. I don't even know what I'm looking for most times and it's impossible to explain, you just got to know.

Any time I get it right I'm just guessing, so life's like a shell game for me and dealing with people. I just close my eyes and pick one of the three

Interesting.

I'm actually pretty good at it, and even before getting into the field of mental health.

We're pretty lucky in that our clientele are pretty stable. We've known some of them for upward(s) of 20 years, so that helps. Being able to spot changes in mood / behavior. I've said to some of the newer staff and oncall people that one of the best things with that is that we've got a general idea of how people are going to act and interact. Plus, our core staff have been there 15 - 25 years respectively. So IF we spot something abnormal, it's on us to document / relay this to others. That way things can be followed up on (i.e. - talking to GP, therapist, or psychiatrist, etc).

And I'm glad to not be in past environments which had 3 - 5x the workload and number of people you were responsible for. People were more troubled (ages 19 - 70) and you felt as though you didn't get enough time to interact properly individually. Things were rushed.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story
2025
8 Episodes

5/10

This series debuted In earlier October and I watched it this week on Netflix at home and finished this afternoon.

It’s the 3rd installment of Netflix’s popular “Monster” anthology series with the first two about Jeffrey Dahmer and the Menendez Brothers. I hadn’t seen the first two and had no interest in watching the first two, but when I saw the trailer for this series, it caught my attention with its references with cult classic horror films.

It’s based after serial killer Ed Gein. He was the inspiration for Hitchcock’s “Psycho” and later the cult classic “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” along with “The Silence of the Lambs”.

The series immediately kicks off depicting how sexually Fucked up Ed Gein is. It soon goes into the origin and what things drove him to cross the line. He was an undiagnosed schizophrenic whose condition was influenced by a combination of his bat shit crazy, religious mother and when he got access to sexually theme Nazi pulp comics based around real life Nazi war criminal, Ilse Koch. He was also influenced by unreleased Nazi Death Camp photos.

It’s a somewhat slow burn series with each episode, but what saves it is that each episode has extended parts that play out like a horror film. Those horror parts are nothing spectacular if you are a hardcore horror fan, but it’s interesting too watch with how the series plays out.

The series does time jumps from the 1940s thru the 1970s. These time jumps are in relation to Hitchcock doing “Psycho”, which changed/influenced Hollywood horror and later filming of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.

For the Pervs, there are number of scenes that will get you worked up involving women’s underwear, female underwear sniffing, GILF sex and sick perverted shit that you might enjoy.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, Ed Geins (Charlie Dutton) is shown in women’s underwear/clothing and performs masturbation. Actor “Anthony Perkins” is shown during the filming of Psycho and is shown in Gay relationships including sex with a BM. A female Trans actress is shown and in full post-op, frontal nudity. There is hardcore graphic sex scene between a WM/BM.

One of the interesting things in the series is how Ed was able to find women who were ok with his perverse behavior and level of violence. Not much with graphic violence, but what is shown is done to make a point.

And what should not be unexpected, Ed is deemed to crazy to be brought in court and his “White Privilege” kicks into overdrive.

I looked into the series and it got some thumbs down on historical accuracy. I’m not sure what is inaccurate, but I suspect what is shown with Ed Gein, some things may have been added/exaggerated so that they got 8 episodes and too sensationalize the story. And with Hitchcock, Anthony Perkins and others, I’m not sure if all that was accurate in what was shown with how their films were produced. I haven’t done any research of my own.

Charlie Dutton does a decent performance depicting how much of a socialpath Ed Gein was. It’s a performance completely different from what you maybe used too. It has a all-star supporting cast in minor roles throughout the series.

The ending is somewhat controversial in my opinion, it was shown from Ed’s POV, but the season ended making it seem like he did something for mankind. He was an influence for some classic horror flicks and he suffered from severe mental illness, but the lunatic was a serial killer and it shouldn’t have had an inspiring ending the way it was depicted.

Overall, this season of the anthology series is not for everyone, it’s full of disturbing and odd imagery and graphic LGBT+ imagery that will offend and make some people uncomfortable, if that content offends you, I highly recommend not watching this season, but it is interesting watching the procession of severe mental illness play out. If you are a fan of the “Terrifier” films, you will definitely enjoy this part of the series with its horror themed.

The 4th season is supposed to be about Lizzie Borden.

Synopsis

Monster: The Ed Gein Story is the third season of the American biographical crime drama anthology television series Monster, created by Ian Brennan for Netflix. The season focuses on convicted murderer, graverobber, and suspected serial killer Ed Gein.

I saw the trailer and it’s being promoted on Disney+ home page.

It looks interesting, but I’m trying my best not to get sucked into new stuff.

A lot of series ended this year and I got a number of ongoing series ending next year.

I’m being choosy in what to get into to going forward.

It's good. The season wraps up soon. The past few episodes have been good with the tension and ominous nature at times.

Recommend it for you in the future once you've checked out your other shows.
