Many people consider Russia as a part of Europe. To me, that sounds like a stretch, however then many consider Turkey as not a part of Europe. Man, that makes no sense, if Russia is a part of Europe then Turkey has to be, also. There has to be some racial politics at work here.

Always been racial politics on that one. Most people know that once you pass Moscow going east you're no longer in Europe. Turkey is considered the gateway to Asia so its sort of a mix. I've always laughed at the designation "Asian" when that technically includes India and the Middle east as well as Siberia. But for some reason the world only identifies people that look like this as Asian:

I think only the western part of Russian is considered Europe. The eastern part is considered Asia.

Russia stretches across almost 11 time zones. It is one of the (if not the) largest countries by land area. So it's not surprising that it's borders are transcontinental, and it's people can look like white folks and some can look like Asians..
About as "Chinese" as an Eskimo.
