Not saying wrestlers have to be in character 24/7 like in the past, but I believe a big reason why a lot of wrestlers have trouble getting over with the fans and why wrestling as a whole is not as mainstream as it used to be is because too many guys go out of their way to let the fans know everything is just an act and they don't really mean what they say.
Someone like MJF is popular because he stays in character so much people have no idea if that's how he really is in real life, which is good.
Imagine if Stone Cold back in the day would post videos of his cats on his ranch (like he does today) and then play the "Texas Rattlesnake" on RAW every Monday. No way he would have gotten over like he did.
At this point it's being pushed to where if we compared it to marvel movies it would be like Robert Downey Jr getting up after he died in the avengers and being like "don't worry guys, just a movie, everything is good, that's not really thanos it's my homie brolin!" Lol

You're already asking me to suspend my disbelief, especially in women's wrestling lol so now just do everything in your power to make it more obviously phony? Lol just stupid imo they want to take WWE reality tv route eventually and create a new shadow keyfabe where WWE is reality tv with wrestling matches sprinkled in

I think this is also a reason a lot of performers have a hard time doing heel turns. It's hard to boo you when I know you are a nice person in real life.

I do think there is a difference between showing behind the scenes stuff, like how the product is made vs. a performer going completely out of character 30 minutes after their match. But here is the conundrum, how do performers expand their brand outside of the ring if they never show that personal side of themselves?

On the Mercedes subject. She shines when she's in the ring with vets who can take the lead or make up for her weaknesses. But she's not a ring general I would have to work with rookies or people who mainly worked off television on the indies.

That's a big part of the problem. Too many wrestlers now are worried about their "brand" and constantly looking for roles in Hollywood.
Back in the day Hollywood came looking for wrestlers to star in movies, not the other way around.

WWE's Damian Priest has commented ahead of hosting Slayer's show at Hershey Park Stadium on September 20:"Slayer’s metal/wrestling connection is special. Their legacy is part of wrestling’s fabric, and metal owes them a lot. I’m honored to host Slayer’s show and bring wrestling to their world. 9/20 Hershey Park Stadium, PA."

TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro says the hope is for WWE to be able to make Wrestlepalooza a big annual event:“Hopefully, Wrestlepalooza is a winner and we can bring that back annually. That could be a marketing bonanza for us if we do that right.Triple H is spending night and day creatively around making that what we think it could be, which is another Wrestlemania or another Summerslam. Those two stand out above the rest, Royal Rumble is right beneath that, and we think Wrestlepalooza could get into that quadrant.”

I tuned into Dynamite. Bryan Danielson is on commentary putting me to sleep. Who is this fat Japanese bitch with Mercedes and why would I care about them tagging? Alex Windsor got cake but she's tagging with Riho and I had to change the channel. WTF is this crap?
Watch BD get an intro at the beginning of every show for a cheap pop. TK booking right again!!!!!!

Fat bitch with Banks gassed in the 1st minute. Only reason I'm watching this shit is Mercedes.

That's Emi Sakura. Her style of wrestling does not translate well to American television at all. Tony should have just bought her in as a trainer if anything.

Can someone tell Harley Cameron. Putting a Cat on your face means something else. Its like Shayna Baszler gay ass calling herself the Queen of Spades. I dont think she knows what that means

And their ugly ass son.
