From what I've seen, Balrog really doesn't talk a lot and they portray him as kind of stupid. I guess this is going to be different.

yeah portrayals of black people in Japanese media is so many times weird and usually pretty similar especially with male characters. Funny, gravely voiced black characters who scream really loudly or high pitched for comedic effect wear flashy hip hop/black culture outfits and styles and make them goofy or degenerates.

I forgot they had to change his name in america cause they said it sounded to much like Tyson… I found that out a few yrs ago watching some vid game history segment... but yeah when the game originally came out all I remember everybody calling him the fake Tyson character..
