"KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities have identified the victims of a downtown Kansas City shooting that left two men dead and three others hurt, including a juvenile.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, 24-year-old Kane Taddese and 18-year-old John Alfaro were shot and killed in a downtown parking lot near 13th and Grand Avenue on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 24.
Police believe an argument is what led up to the shooting just after 4 a.m. But at this time, KCPD hasn’t confirmed whether any of the victims were involved in the argument.
Initial reporting states one of the victims was declared dead at the scene, while the other died at a hospital just after 6:40 a.m.
Additionally, KCPD said the juvenile victim, a boy, was critically injured in the shooting, but was improving and expected to survive. Police also reported that the other male victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, as well as a woman with non-life-threatening injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.
According to crime scene investigators and FOX4 reporters, dozens of bullet holes were found outside of the nearby College Basketball Experience. KCPD added that several cars in the parking lot were left with shattered windshields, bullet holes and flat tires.
One witness told FOX4 that the argument started over a girl; however, this has not been confirmed by police.
They recalled a large group of people fist-fighting for about 30 minutes before the shooting began. The witness also told FOX4 that several of the suspects were wearing masks and that they believed there were about 15 shooters.
At this time, no formal charges have been filed, nor have any arrests been made."
