The Howard Stern Show is officially being canceled by SiriusXM after two decades on the air.

I listen to his show regularly and he hates Podcasts.

Howard paid his dues starting his radio career in the 1970s making minimum wage at shitty radio stations.

He hates seeing mofos start a Podcast and making big money instantly. He went on a long rant when Hawk Tuah girl got a podcast with a nice contract.

It doesn't sound like he hates podcasts it just sounds like he hates how easy it is for people with no talent or experience to immediately start one and start getting paid money that doesn't equal their talent or success.

If he does start one I doubt he'd do it full time or even close but I could see him starting a channel to just do occasional 1-2 hour interviews with A list guests.

Plus he spoke out against Trump.....
Clowned trump in the day but...end came after old shows dug up un-filtered trump/epstein bro-mance and their hunt for youngins.

Surprised hes lasted this long....I used to listen/watch him back in the late 90's and early 2000's.

I know he got the major contract from sirius and had a flagship show but in all the years ive had satellite radio I havent listened to him once...theres so many superior options on satellite radio
I listened to Karen Hunter for the short time I had SiriusXM

One good thing I can say about Howard Stern - he is a very good interviewer.

Some of the jokes that he made over the years got a few chuckles from me, but became sophomoric after a while.

Ok, I'll admit it...I wanted to fuck Robin Quivers before she had her breast reduction. Even though it was a bit crass when fans and staff would make songs about her (formerly) big chest and about how they wanted to fuck her, sometimes the songs were hilarious. And yes, I couldn't stand her laughing at everything Howard said.

If this is true he had a good run. The show was at it's best when it was the 90's and slowly but surely he became Hollywood Howard and became friends with mostly every celebrity he had a problem with. Sirius is likely seeing a slow down in subscriptions and are weighing the scales. Howard likely wants out after all these years.

Yes a podcast seems like a downgrade for him at this point. At this age he can retire and just go enjoy his money.

I doubt SiriusXM will let Howard leave, like I said earlier, he is there main bread and butter.

There isn’t anyone out there who come in an replace him getting the audience he brings in along with subscribers.

SiriusXM primarily subscribers are Baby Boomers and GenX. Similar to cable subscribers and streaming apps. They are all coming towards their end like CD discs.

The younger generations are getting their entertainment from other media platforms.

What the future of entertainment media will be in 20 years is unknown at this time.

They gave Conan $150 million. How much do you think Karen hunter was given?

They're pissed at Stern. If there's no animosity between the parties, the party that wants out will be a lot more diplomatic in explaining why their partnership is coming to an end, for Sirius to come out and say Stern's not worth was we're paying him, that means they're pissed.

A lot folks on SiriusXm have some nice big contracts.

That televangelist Joel Osteen has his own channel.

Music artists like Kelly Clarkson, Eminem, Bruce Springsteen and LL Cool J have channels/contracts with SiriusXM.

All those contracts that a number of celebrities have, it’s because of Howard. There really wasn’t any no big name celebrities on SiriusXm before Howard.

Nah its over.

The world has changed and with all of these emerging platforms and shows contracts like Howard has can no longer be justified.

Plus I'd bet a lot of his die hard fans throughout the years stopped listening after turning rabid MAGA which he's been very vocal about being against.

Howard Stern staffers prepping for show’s demise, withholding best material as future uncertain

The writing has “been on the wall for well over a year now” that SiriusXM wouldn’t be renewing Howard Stern’s colossal contract — and his employees have been taking advantage, “coasting” on the clock and trolling for new gigs, two current show staffers told The Post.

This week, reports surfaced that the “Howard Stern Show’s” “19-year run at SiriusXM was nearing its end, with his $500 million contract expiring at the end of the year and an audience that’s apparently dwindled from 20 million a day to 125,000.

Some of the show’s writers have been their best jokes for themselves, to use after the show’s eventual demise, one worker said.

“Most of us have been coasting at work the last year,” because “we know he’s retiring, whether by choice or because he’s forced out,” admitted one of the longtime staffers who dished to The Post this week.

Stern’s employees have been putting out feelers for other showbiz gigs, the two said.

“It’s been hard, because the industry [in New York City] is so incestuous, so you don’t know who’s talking to who,” the first employee said.

“I’m just hanging in there until this is all sorted out, and then I will take some time to unwind after all this,” the staffer continued. “I’m a fan and it’s been a big part of my life for so long, but it hasn’t been fun for a while.”

Before taking his annual summer break, Stern, 71, hinted in staff meetings his retirement is nigh. The staffers said they’ve only heard rumors regarding Stern’s future at SiriusXM — nothing definitive from management or the self-proclaimed “King of All Media” himself.

The looming end of the once mighty radio personality comes after a sharp change in Stern’s politics.

The radio host used to maintain a friendship with President Trump, but came out against him when he ran against Hillary Clinton in 2015.

Once a strong supporter of Republicans like former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Governor George Pataki, Stern has been accused of going woke and was an infamously ardent backer of President Biden and Kamala Harris.

“I don’t know if its wokeness that alienated some of his audience, or if he just got tamer with age, but whatever it is, its apparent no one wants to hear it anymore,” the second staffer offered.

The political U-turn was done to appease the Hollywood elite, the employee said.

“I think he’s content to be out in there in the Hamptons with his celebrity friends,” the first staffer offered. “He likes being liked by famous people. That seems more important [to him] than his legacy.”

Some ribbed Stern, calling him “Hollywood Howie” after he started hanging around with the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Jennifer Aniston, Jerry Seinfeld, and John Stamos during the late 2000s and early to mid 2010s.

But since COVID Stern’s become “a hermit,” the second staffer said.

“Everyone knows he hasn’t been the same since COVID. He does the show from his [Southampton] basement. And it’s been sad to see how irrelevant he’s become,” the employee added.

Stern has also suffered immense loss in recent years, with the deaths of his father, Ben, in 2022, his best friend and stylist, Ralph Cirella, in 2023, and then his agent, Don Buchwald, in 2024.

Fans have complained for years about the show’s dwindling quality, and Stern’s kids-gloves approach with certain guests he once would’ve skewered.

“His passion hasn’t been there, and that can be infectious,” the first staffer said. “When your boss doesn’t even seem like he wants to be there, its like, why should I bust my ass?”

Stern and SiriusXM did not return requests for comment.

According to a DailyMail report, Stern might make a move to a streaming platform, like Netflix or HBO Max, and insists “All this unknown is music to Howard’s ears.

“He thrives in this element of the unknown,” the source added.

Man his show was funny as fuck in the 90’s , niggas way too damn sensative . The shit he’d have on his show back then would not fly today . When his callers would call in and argue with beetle juice I’d be in tears. Must be an east coast thing . Shit was classic and when he’d have angry Black on his show . Man listen.

Long overdue. He's not worth what they initially were paying him. He's off the shock jock shit so it pretty boring from what I understand. Sirius/XM is has been slowing dying as well so they can't justified a $100million contract for one guy who has already brought in his audience who slowly going away. I don't know a single person with with satellite radio sub.
That shit came as a free three month trial with my GV80..... never listened to it once..... and didn't renew the subsription after the trial

.

Were the Howard TV , shows ever rereleased? Also where can I watch the E shows, CBS shows? Youtube has only fragments of shows but not complete episodes.
