What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas but ain't shit happening

Just went 2 weekends ago for one of my friends sons aau tournament. It was crowded enough for me. It may have been because it was Beyonces last show that weekend. But the other times I have gone this year it's still been enough people, but I don't like big crowds anyway so this is perfect for me.
I'm 48, went for the first time in '22. Had a good time, but I'm not itching to go back soon

Let me break it down once upon a time you could only gamble in Vegas, Atlantic City, Indian Casino's, some horse race tracks, Canada etc. Fast forward casino's open in Detroit than other states slowly start making gambling legal online betting booms that older generation of boomer who love their gambling trips are gone 2008 finical crisis alot of homes and money lost less disposable income. More and more states open to gambling Covid hits big Casino take big hits but slot machine called skilled game pop up everywhere and boom during Covid cause they aren't really being regulated. We come out of Covid alot of those old gamblers are gone and new Casino pop up ending those church and group weekend gambling trips and instead of big Casino resorts dropping price to get people back they rise prices and chase away the crowd need when there are no events going on.

Also, with social media…..this bitch ass “content creators” all go off the same bullshit headline. When I lived there, I could EASILY pick a time of day or night or day of the week to make the claim. I knew which casino was dead, and many times, if there’s a concert and a game the casino is emptz that’s where everyone is. Social media losers cease on the trend of report tourism is dead in insert place and 100 of them will use the same headline. Vegas will never die, they’ll figure out where they are fucking up and change it.

I lived there. Part of this is seasonal, the other aspect is raising prices on hotels, charging to park at casinos, resort fees and even worse, overpriced drinks. A single Budweiser inside a casino can be $9, and cocktail can be over $20. The biggest factor is Trump.
I thought drinks were free? But I have been since the mid 2000's lol

I went out to Vegas Juneteenth weekend. I didn't really notice a difference, but I don't gamble. I've seen videos like this recently with people showing how slow it's gotten. This doesn't bother me one iota, not one.

Watching America fail due to its own racism puts a smile on my face. It's like watching a slave owner go bankrupt.

We not broke. YOU broke. You did this to yourself.

Vegas seems to run on scams.

Last time I went

-security pulled me out of a hotel check-in line to try to sell me a timeshare. As did practically everyone in a suit that I saw for the next 3 days. I'm a nice guy, but by the end of the trip I was cussing out anyone who started a sentence with "excuse me sir".

-The hotel slapped an extra $30 a night fee to use the pool and Wi-Fi

-someone tried to sell me a refilled bottle of water on the strip

-had to pay $2 for a lighter I couldn't take on the plane because nobody gives you matches with their cigarettes.

-Lost my cash to a slot machine. Went to the ATM to get more. Found out there was a $10 fee because my bank, one of the most common in the country, didn't have an ATM on the strip.

-The restaurants were so unaffordable I fed myself by cutting $10 Denny's coupons out of travel brochures. There's only so many fried cheese sticks you can eat in one day.

And this was back in 2018. A time when me and practically everyone else in the country had money. With this downturn in tourism I'm sure those scams have got even grimier.

At least I know the Raiders will be coming back to Oakland soon.

Gen Z is not in to Vegas as previous generations. They got Robinhood & sport gambling apps to use.
Tried to tell my mother that. Vegas is not appealing to younger people. The fuck folks want to be in that heat for? If I don't have a lot of money to vacation I rather sit on the beach for free in Miami with cheap airline flights.

What you're saying is true but the numbers reported don't lie. I don't know anyone who goes to Vegas. They all flying international to get away for a good time.

Shit, I played $20 when I went to Vegas in July. I got up to $28, then got bored with it and did an all-in, and I lost. I haven't gambled since.

I play the Powerball when it gets over 200 million. I play $2. If I win, great, if I lose, it's just two bucks, and since I wait until it's over 200 million I don't play it all the time.

It happened to Atlantic City, why wouldn't it happen to Vegas?.

Gambling at the small city casinos and on an app just doesn't compare to be in the money in my opinion but nothing last forever.

What yall mean seasonal. Summer is when Vegas is packed as fuck. That’s when people go. Hot or not. You got the pool parties and cabanas they rip niggas off for . It’s also when artists go and perform at those pool parties. That shit is dead as fuck right now compared to the mid 2000’s. Shit I’d go in the winter too and it would be packed as fuck. I went one winter and it snowed and people were still out ready to go clubbing. Bitches wearing mini skirts showing panty with jackets on.

Vegas was the place to be on memorial weekend for niggas. The last memorial weekend I went in 2014 was the beginning of the end honestly. That was the year T.I & Mayweather had that scuffle. We were staying in a suite at the Aria and they put on a "nigga" tax like no other that weekend. I must have spent a couple racks. At least I got some free pussy out the trip lol.

Diddy had a pool party & they were charging $200 just for entry. That was 11 years ago when prices were high as fuck, so I can't imagine how much they would tax niggas now.

People finally realized they can travel internationally with a passport & hit up beaches for cheaper than Vegas. Notice people started pivoting more to Dubai around that time.

The biggest wake up call came when I watched an old lady play slots in the hotel lobby. She kept making these $2 bets and probably lost a couple hundred bucks in 15 minutes. At one point she hit $75 and didn't even flinch. I looked closer in realize that she'd probably been wearing the same sweat suit for 3 days. She didn't even notice me staring!

The worst part was half the machines were filled with old ladies just like her. Imagine working, saving, sacrificing and struggling your whole life just to throw it all away like that. 7 years later and I still get chills thinking about it.

If you and I get coffee I don't mind flipping a quarter to see who pays. But a casino is nothing more than a glorified crack house.

Thats how the casinos are in Lousiana. Folks be riding scooters and wheelchairs to gamble their SSI and pensions away. I know someone who blew through a million at the casino.

Same with California.

I remember arguing with my wife in front of the casino saying "it's 5:00 a.m. we need to go home."

At least back then you had to know a guy or drive to the res. Now the government lets people do that shit on their phones. :smh:

I remembered you got free drinks while you gambled. This was around 2000 though.
