If he sticks to interviewing and can learn to inject himself or his opinions and issues as little as possible it could work.
Also, even if he doesn't he'll continue to create drama and "beefs" which unfortunately gets clicks and is another way to build a following as much as I hate to say it.
If I were him I'd avoid having co-hosts and instead would build a behind the scenes team to help me interview and set shit up without becoming talent since he doesn't play well with others.
