Ring camera video of a woman being struck by an Amazon delivery driver in Butchers Hill.

BALTIMORE (WBFF) —
Harrowing home surveillance video shows the moment a 29-year-old woman was run over by an Amazon delivery driver in Baltimore’s Butchers Hill neighborhood.

The incident took place on Feb. 18 around 9:30pm at the intersection of E. Pratt and S. Chester Street. Footage from a motion sensor ring doorbell camera picks up as the stop light along Pratt Street turns green and the Amazon truck begins slowly plowing over a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

That’s horrible,” area resident Josh Webster said as he watched the video in disbelief, “That almost seemed fake. It's like, you don't want to believe it, you know.”

The driver can be seen briefly hesitating before running over the woman with his back wheels as well.
“He’s like, over top of her,” Webster said. “Then he runs her over again.”
While the woman cries out in agony, the driver gets out to assess the situation. Then, gets back into his truck and drives away.
“He had to know that there, you know, something was obviously wrong. Especially driving a truck around all day. You can, you could differentiate, you know, between a pothole and a person. I'm pretty sure,” Webster said.

Police and emergency personnel arrived on scene shortly after the incident. According to a spokesperson with the Baltimore Police Department, the victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police also say, at this time, the vehicle’s Tag/ID number remains unknown and their search for a suspect continues.
“They should definitely be held accountable,” Webster said. “I just pray that that woman's okay.”
Amazon spokesperson Austin Stowe released the following statement:

Amazon delivery driver sentenced to 45 days of incarceration; Seen in video striking woman

The Amazon delivery driver who hit a pedestrian and left the scene in Butchers Hill in February was sentenced on Monday.

Jerome Allan Young, 26, of Baltimore County, was sentenced to 45 days of home detention and 45 days of incarceration. He'll also get two years of supervised probation upon release, according to a news release.

Video obtained by 11 News Investigates showed Young striking a woman in a crosswalk in Butchers Hill before leaving the scene.

Young was suspended from delivering on Amazon's behalf, and the company worked with his employer and law enforcement as they investigated the incident, an Amazon spokesperson told 11 News in February.

"My deepest sympathies go out to the victim, who bravely continues her painful journey of healing and confronts each day with the reminders of this traumatic experience," Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates said in a news release.

A Baltimore prosecutor dropped felony charges against Young in February.
