Why do white people love Caitlin Clark more then any other WNBA player

They have a stream of young talent coming
Maybe not cc level but more popular than the old guard

^^^

Agreed I think Caitlin threw them the alley oop of all time (Angel too to be fair by association). Its too soon to make doomsday predictions.

The most important thing is for them to build and sustain and grow because of Caitlin and the positive/negative exposure.

*I still think the NEED to make some type of peace around all this - UNLESS the media experts really think the hate jealously and racism is actually HELPING sell the product?

They are not asking to get paid what the men get paid.

Kelsey Plum explained what they want.

I appreciate the video King, and I was aware of the ask. The issue boils down to two things that gets in the way of the request:
1. The disparity in revenue is crazy…about 10-11 billion for the NBA vs $200 million for the W. Fifty times more profitable. Again…crazy.
2. Plum was talking about revenue share, but wait: the NBA negotiated their cut to about 52.5% WNBA is about 22.5%. Go back to the figures in the first point and if they are given a similar split as the NBA, the league would hemorrhage even more if that were even possible, due to the WNBA always being in the red. The W cannot increase their own profits, so why ask for a cut of something technically negative?

The WNBA is that friend that invites you out to lunch, orders from the right side of the menu with two apps, a neat drink and a dessert, and then lets you know that they left their wallet at home.

She's selling out nba arenas
Selling jerseys like steph and Bron
More endorsements than most nba players
And has an international following

^^^ like I said she is the raising tide

but now if dudes are telling me they STILL losing money? So then yeah f**k it scrap the whole thing, i guess?

Maybe she isn't as powerful as we thought.

But I think she has been great for the league and the sport globally and inspired a new generation of women AND men to follow the sport

and that her spark should be inspiring to keep the league going.

But if it really aint do sh*t?

Whelp...

She was popping in college way before she got drafted to the WNBA and they followed her there to think she can save the WNBA which isn't happening because they don't have the same reach like a NBA player who can bring in more money from ticket, jersey, endorsements and internationally.

When did I say she wasn't?

Nike
State Farm
Eli Lilly
Wilson (first since Jordan to have a signature ball)
Gatorade
Bose, Buick, Hy-Vee, H&R Block, Topps, Shoot-A-Way, and Goldman Sachs,
Hy-Vee: She even has her own cereal, "Caitlin's Crunch Time," with the grocery chain.

Nobody gives a shit about women's basketball WNBA now, Caitlin Clark has a fanbase that only cares about her and they wear it as a badge of honor saying they only care about her and no other women in WNBA. She hasn't made the WNBA hot or relevant, the teams are basically in the same spot they were before Caitlin Clark got there just whatever team she plays gets a bump when she's in town
The fact that the media talks about it now, and the wnba thread on here is multiple times longer than any wnba discussion we ever had, says it all.

Caitlin does have a fanbase, and by extension, the WNBA has a fanbase now.

This is what it’s about.

Here's a breakdown of revenue sharing in major North American leagues:
  • NFL: Players receive 48% of all league revenue, according to MDPI.

  • NBA: Players receive between 49% and 51% of basketball-related income.

  • NHL: Players receive 50% of league revenue.

  • MLB: Players receive around 40% of the league's revenue, according to Tennishead.

  • WNBA: Players receive a significantly smaller share, around 9.3% of total league revenue, reports MarketWatch.

That's cool and all but I've seen way more with NBA players having a longer list. I'm just saying, she will never be on the same level as an NBA player when it comes to getting paid having endorsement deals especially the top NBA players.

hmmm... you not wrong. But I got questions.

you saying the WNBA is NOT popping at all? Despite ratings, social media activity, merchandise, ticket sales... the WNBA aint popping in comparison to a few years ago?

but WITHOUT the WNBA would she be popping?

She is the Jordan right now no doubt but I think a raising tide lifts all boats.

It is a GREAT question and we will get the answer REALLY soon about whether the WNBA will be fine when Caitlin is gone.
All those things come back to one person though, the Caitlin Clark fanbase is the one buying all her merchandise buying up the tickets when she plays, all you have to do is check out the WNBA ALLSTAR game that just happened, once she was ruled out the ticket prices dropped

I want to see how much is this new TV deal be worth in 2026. They need to continue make changes as well. There's more work that needs to be done.

2+ billion over 11 years.

When you add the new TV revenue + sponsorships + ticket sales + merchandise + expansion fees, they could be in the black next year. So they won't be in the negative anymore.

The current WNBA CBA expires this year. Now is the time to try to get the money that's coming.

I just answered your question about her popping before being drafted into the WNBA.

got it! but that was NOT what I said or meant. I was responding to @pookie about her complicated relationship to the league. The point I was making was the WNBA existed for her to have this continued career she has now. Without the blood and sweat from the OGs of the WNBA she would be playing in the Ukraine right now regardless of how well she played in college.

So in that regard she would not being popping like that after she graduated WITHOUT the WNBA being in existence.

And at the same time her career BOTH college and pro has lifted the entire league. To a point where they have a brighter future than BEFORE Caitlin arrived on the basketball scene.

Bro how in the f**k do you want me to reasonably argue AGAINST that?

I can't.

But what they gonna do when Caitlin gone? If Caitlin never wins a ring? If Caitlin becomes injury prone.

They gonna let this the players all hate her narrative continue? That aint gonna HELP.

They gotta make some type of peace.

So Caitlin can be a true ambassador to the sport for ALL PEOPLE.

Even when she stops playing.

So in MY OPINION that means stop the Caitlin hate stop the Angel hate.

And focus on OTHER players.

Be fun, cute, sexy, cool, engaging and don't be afraid of conflict.

But don't feed too much into the racial stuff. This aint the time for that.

As far as the thread topic.

She's good at basketball, fun to watch and white.

That's why white people love Caitlin Clark.

Non-white Basketball fans like her because she's good at basketball, and fun to watch.

If your social media runs your world and dictator thinking, you won't like Caitlin Clark.

They are still losing money because only one player out of 150 is bringing in big money, if the NBA stopped subsidizing the WNBA today they'd fold in a year. The whole rising tides thing doesn't apply in the Caitlin Clark WNBA situation because her fanbase thrive off her being the only WNBA worth watching in their eyes, they say it all the time "IF CC NOT PLAYING IM NOT WATCHING"

She's in her 2nd year and already has as many endorsements as someone like Jimmy Butler who is at the end of his career

@therealjondoe you better never tell me sh*t again.

Cause you got me spending a Sunday afternoon on my phone defending Caitlin f*cking Clark

I think it's disrespectful how the same attention wasn't given to the ones who paved the way before she entered the league which makes it racially based of people saying she's a "GREAT WHITE HOPE" that overshadows the others who have talent as well but aren't white.

I was just making my point that they talked about her a lot on every network and having her in commercials when she was about to get drafted into the league which everyone followed her to the WNBA.

But we gotta look at it as the fans think white athletes are more talented than our own. Angel Reese has broken records in her own way playing a different postion but there's a lot of people who think she's trash or shouldn't be an all-star.

But if caitlin clark was to leave the WNBA today, you wouldn't hear about these sold-out arenas anymore because people rather support a white athlete no matter what.

So, that's why people saying she saved the WNBA regardless of who came before her because nobody wasn't paying attention to the WNBA at the time nor back then like they are now.

The difference is all those North American leagues generate billions of dollars every year except one
