Funny? Shane Gillis roasts Caitlin Clark, Donald Trump, Aaron Rodgers and others in ESPYS monologue

The Brittany Hicks joke was funny, the Caitlin Clark on wasn't.

It didn't make sense.

The Caitlin joke to me was wack.

I aint a fan but for some reason I always end up trying to defend Shane. To me? He got that white privilege comedy.

He "created" a character that even when the joke is bad the delivery is bad the set up is nonexistent and the punch line is all filler no substance?

His fans will say he MEANT to do that. So its funny and WE just don't GET IT.

Being shocking or offensive or hurtful is not in and of itself FUNNY.

It takes A WHOLE LOT to tell a good joke and even more to craft a good set.

I THINK he was trying to do a homage to Norm and what jokes he would tell?

And yeah I GUESS it would be SIMIILAR but the thing is Norm was confident had impeccable timing and NEVER seemed dumb lazy or deliberately hurtful.

Norm was smart as f**k and so was his comedy.

I was not OFFENDED mainly because I knew EXCTLY what to expect form this guy.

ESPN did this for attention not quality.

I guess that's okay. They better not cry later if it blows up in they face.

The Caitlin joke was wack to me because there was no truth to it. If he said that she got into arguments, or even just fights it might've came off better.

But "Fist fights"? She hasn't had any so it didn't make sense to me.

I've seen a couple of his interviews and slur seemed cool. But as far as actual comedy, it seem like he's just going for the shock value.

This is the problem with your posts, then don't make sense.

What in the fuck does Black people fighting at Waffle House have to do with Caitlin.

Caitlin hasn't gotten into ANY fights and that's why the joke doesn't make sense.

Yes there's videos of Black people fighting at the Waffle House, but there NO video of Caitlin fighting anyone. And in this case specifically Black women.

And I immediately knew he was pushing the 'bumbling act" too far when he mispronounced Diana last name.

That wasn't funny. If it was deliberate

If it was part of the act? To somehow SHIELD himself from the upcoming bad jokes?

White boy sh*t

Like Red said... aint no one watch that sh*t. I didn't even know it was on.

Who here was championing the ESPYs?
I knew it was coming on because I was watching ESPN and the pre show came on.

I wasn't interim seeing people so I didn't watch. Probably should've because I think I had summer league basketball on and I wasn't watching it.

It's a gather of athletes from all sports so I can see why people who like sports would like to watch.

I just wasn't interested and usually am not interested.

Actually maybe if someone ELSE was hosting i would have watched some of it. Or even heard about it.

If Shannon wasn't on time out he would have been good.

Maybe Godfrey?

I did hear about it until the day before and you're right, maybe if someone else was hosting I'd watch.

I'm lying, I wasn't gonna watch because I never do!
