Ironheart lands its lead writer. I'm ready to see this one.

I can't believe some of y'all actually liked that show... Even Marvel didn't it believe it was good, so much so that they gave it the Echo treatment (barely any promotions, drop all the episodes all at once and no 2nd season) :dunno:
Like someone else said in this thread, the Acolytes was better.
Ok

Could you imagine white people giving shyt reviews to the Nobody franchise. The John Wick franchise didn't "get a bad" review until they wrote a woman into that universe and that was after 4 movies and a TV show!!! A bullet-proof suit? Better Call Saul and the Judge from Roger Rabbit and the RZA kill an entire city worth of folks. A NETWORK of BUMS led by fat Morpheus?!?!?!

White folks ain't gonna let you talk bad about their shows and movies, but they'll hype you up and give you props for shytting on your own.

If I had to rate that show on Rotten Tomatoes, I would give it a 7/10, I would do the same thing if I was on a Nerdrotic panel or anything else similar, but on BGOL I'm not going to pretend it's good...

But do you do that same thing with the Impossible White Man movies? Eminem becomes the King of Rap (translation blacks) during a Rap Battle. Jason Statham beats the shyt out of the Russian mob and has a single scratch on his face. Or even Batman! Why is it we use the preface of: "For an action movie..." when singing the praises of white man kills everyone with a handgun. But don't give that same grace to our shows/movies? Adam Sandler has made a mountain of money off of mediocrity and amongst our own we can quote scenes verbatim. But some get almost excited to shyt on our shows/media here on BGOL?

I can’t speak for everybody else, but I don’t get any pleasure of saying a black movie sucks in here… and I’m not kinder to white movies when they sucks which has been the majority of them lately

I know we talking about Ironheart but can't they cast a better looking Lois? Amy Adam's was the best of all the Lois in the movies. I think Teri Hatcher is the best overall.
They just STAY fumbling Lois Lane and MJ (Spider-Man) These were women that had model looks, but were SUPER homely in the movies. I'll give Margot Kidder a pass as Lois back then didn't have much going on except being a damsel in distress. But she was multi-faceted since then physically, emotionally and mentally

Ironheart
2025
6 Episodes

5/10

I waited until all the episodes debuted before watching this new series. I started this morning and finished watching this afternoon at home on Disney+.

I’m not familiar with the character from the comics being I haven’t read books since the early 90s. So I went into this series blind and watched it for what it is.

It picks up about 4 years after “Eyes of Wakanda” where Riri Williams made her official MCU debut.

The series starts out mainly with Riri struggling to get funds together to build her first suit. She also is getting over the deaths of her stepfather and a close friend who she inadvertently uses her as her A.I.

Alden Ehrenreich (Star Wars “Solo”) debuts in the MCU as Obadiah Stane’s son Ezekiel. Cree Summer (Different World) debuts in the MCU as a Sorceress who dropped out of the Kamar-Taj.

Riri makes a new suit out of a 70’s Dodge Challenger. Pure comedy when Sasha refers to it as a “Transformer” suit. HaHa!!!

Sacha Baron Cohen debuts as “Mephisto”. Great casting and looking forward to how he does the character. Parker’s acquisition of the Hood is shown in a flashback.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, there is a member of Parker’s crew that is openly gay and looks like a “Grace Jones” reject. HaHa!!!

I looked up the series to get more information on the characters, the Gay character “Slug” is the. Most interesting being he is from Madripoor. This is the 2nd reference to that country, the first was in “Falcon and Winter Soldier”. That country is heavily associated with the X-Men/Wolverine, so good chance Slug will be returning when they officially debut.

Overall, it wasn’t all that a good season, but it was entertaining to a degree. The character ISS not strong enough for her own movie for sure, so this series fit Riri well. It plays out like “Ms. Marvel”, just a little more darker. Definitely the highlight was Mephisto in the last 15 minutes talking with Riri and what the outcome of their conversation came too.

I looked into it and it looks like Disney/Marvel has this as a stand-alone limited series with no plans to continue it, but the Mephisto/Ironheart story will continue in other projects for sure.

I think I already stated somewhere in here that I do NOT seem to be on the same page with BGOL when it comes to these Marvel/Disney+ shows.

I thought this show was mid. Just mid. Not good, not bad, and damn sure not worth 10 pages of mostly complaining. I have some issues with the show that I don't see mentioned in here. Although I'm not sure if my problems are real issues or just nitpicks, so let's start with the stuff everyone has already mentioned.

Villian
This show, like most Marvel properties has a lack of villian problem. I never brought Hood as a serious threat. If anything it looked like Hood's hood would kill him before Riri. And then they completely undercut Hood in that last episode and set up a villian we might not see again until only God knows when.

And I thought the name exchange between Riri & Mephisto was the most poignant & memorable line of dialouge in the whole show.
-"Some people call me Mephisto!" (takes dramatic pause to allow nerd boys all over the internet time to masturbate over hearing the name)

-"Okay and that's supposed to mean something to me."
I assume Riri line was written for ppl like me who couldn't care less about that name reveal. I'm not nerd boying out over a name reveal that comes with less than 10 minutes to go in the season. Fuck you Mephisto, you want my attention, then you should have shown up 4 episodes ago :dunno:

Characters
At least 3 characters at some point basically call Riri a selfish, manipulative bitch who uses people to get what she wants. At first I was like, damn that's a bit rough. By episode 4 or 5, I finally had to stop arguing with that assessment. It's really not a good look for your main character.

Was Riri mom a 'black momma' or not? At times she was written to be that 'girl watch ya mouth, and don't talk back to me' black momma. Other times when they needed to stretch the plot out, she would say silent or completely disappear. It just felt off.

Sorry to break this into multiple post, but I felt like one more sentence in the last one would have resulted in Colin Powell kicking down the door like Kool-aid man.

Anyway getting back to characters, can I holla at you BGOL George Jefferson walkers right quick? All you No Ma t-shirt wearing 'real men'.
strutting-george-jefferson.gif
yeah you. Come let me get at you right quick.

Y'all motherfuckers had me worried this show was basically Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Like that character would be in booty shorts, calling everyone Girrrrlllll, and sucking dick in every episode. I don't think this nigga even sounded gay. He just dressed like a weirdo and that was enough to set ya off for 10 pages of calling dude a fag and complaining about the gay agenda.

I have some more to say, but just for you George Jefferson walking real men, I'ma drop this gif off to end this post. Have fun with it.

Last post in here for now-ish
My problems and/or nitpicks

Can we talk about Riri's suits?
At the point in the 1st episode when Riri was sitting in the kitchen of her mom's Chicago apartment that I asked myself a question that never stop bothering me ....

HOW THE FUCK SHE CHARGING THAT THING? Like seriously, did she plug that into a USB-C port on her I-Pad? Tony had to invent arc technology to power his shit, and yes, I heard that throwaway line about her suit being solar powered and go fuck yourself. The only thing that solar powered and traveling from Boston to Chicago at mach 5 without running outta juice is Superman.

And the second suit built outta a car. I know, I know....

obadiah-stane-tony-stark-was-able-to-build-this-in-a-cave-with-a-box-of-scraps.gif

I love you Riri.... but you ain't Tony Stark. Tony was working with unlimited funds and resources. Riri working on a hood budget and she she managed to built 2 Iron suits. The most believable part was when they stop bullshitting and just admitted it that they were using magic now.

I see what you did there.
You used the meme of a closeted gay man to point out people's hypocrisy, right?
Brilliant...;)

I think Mephisto was debuted at the right time.

Don’t forget, the MCU debuted in 2008 officially starting the “Infinity Gauntlet” plot. Thanos didn’t debut until the after credits in “Avengers” in 2012.

He barely showed up after in projects and we only saw him in post credit scenes from 2012 until “Avengers: Infinity War” in 2018. It took 10 years before we saw him in action.

Ironheart completes the MCU Phase 5. So good chance Mephisto will be a major character starting around “Avengers: Secret Wars” and going past that in films/series.

Disney plans on doing a full reboot of the franchise after Secret Wars. That’s probably when we will see more Mephisto.

Disney has no plans on selling the Marvel franchise. They will be pumping out shit when we are 90 years old and watching this shit with our great, great, great grandkids.

I will go on record and say mofos complaining about Phase 4/5, 10 years from now will say those 2 phases were Marvel’s best.

Remember when Disney announced Robert Downey Jr. was Tony Stark…..mofos swore “Iron Man” would suck….them sane mofos would laugh mofos off this board if someone said RD jr. sucked as Tony Stark.

Enjoy this content for what it is….Entertainment.

It ain’t a documentary based on facts.

For all the hype this character has gotten thru 3 series (Wanda/Agatha/Ironheart) while only having like 10 minutes of dialouge, I hope & pray he does show up again and become a big deal.

And I get thru these discussion threads that he's a big deal until the comics. I just never read those comics. I'm not a fan of magic :dunno:

Your post just made me realize something. Since the whole Jonathan Majors thing, I really haven't been into the phases and longterm Marvel plans.

At this point they seem more likely to pivot after a misstep which makes me less interested :dunno:

Oh and something else Marvel, stop introducing cute little kids characters. I see what you're doing.

7620189c7bd92a91c58f084fa22ccd6a6b6bb493.gif

Introduce the character as a cute little kid so the audience instantly falls in love with them. And then they second you need them to be important to the story, bam

6618883b473706b5e0231b5a9d89afe4f0a72630.gif

Now they're played by this teenaged asshole .... get use to it.

Y'all know you ain't gonna see that little boy again. Oh the son of the Black Panther will be all over Young Avengers with the rest of teenage assholes, but you ain't NEVER gonna see that little boy again

People giving this show a 7/10?

So this show was only 3 points away from reaching what you consider tv perfection? So you're saying that the Wire or boardwalk empire are shows that are only separated by three points from iron heart? LMFAO

So by that metric this show should be remembered for years and not just fade into cape shit marvel obscurity, right? Right?

I JUST finally watched the first episode, l like it but not explaining why Wakanda ain't on her speed dial is an enormous plot hole I'm having a very difficult time accepting.

It isn't a deal breaker

But oh man.... besides THAT?

I'm liking it.

That was my MAJOR point!!!! Like, she just bailed them out TREMENDOUSLY and they can't float her a couple of bucks for materials? They don't have an extra lab for her to work in? If I got kicked out of MIT, I would have shatted on the deans desk and been like: "FCUK THIS TWO BIT SHYTHOLE!!!! I got friends in high places!"

That reason alone I felt like she should have stayed IN MIT. In the comics, the university was always showing her off to investors and she felt like a zoo animal, so she would frequently leave and go back home, where she worked out of her garage and not in her mothers kitchen. This would have made for a better story.

But this is my Nerd Fanboy critique.

I get what you're saying, but a 7/10 action movie isn't rated the same way a 7/10 drama is. The scales are not the same. All things equal Ironheart is a 5/10 (4.5, but its blackness I give it the extra .5) when being rated on the same scale as a Wire, etc...

For sure agree with that, with that said if we're speaking straight action and we're saying a 10 is something like the matrix, the raid, John wick 1, the killer, ECT then I'd still say this is a major fail, and as strictly judged against even its own direct peers(marvel tv shows) I'd have it down there right above she hulk lol

Not mad at that and even still the on a action TV show grading scale it isn't a 7/10. Nowadays 7/10 means average...a 7 isn't average! That's above average. You won't rewatch it, but it was entertaining and there is nothing wrong with that. 4.5/10 is a average rating for an average show.

Smh 3 points or 30% away.
30% is a substantial difference.

Even though she got kicked out of MIT, I still expect her to somehow be in the next Spiderman movie.

If for no other reason than it will be a Disney Spiderman movie so there will be at least two completely unnecessary MCU cameos and one of those will probably be in a Ironman suit.

Yeah you’re doing slot. 3 points is a lot from perfection.

In female standards….a 7 and a 10 in perfection are not close. One looks good. The other you want to spend your rent money on and drink her bath water.

For me….im not entirely sure if Hood is suppose to be the villain. I’ve been going. I think the villain is……Riri. If you factor in everything she’s done from episode 1 to 6……I think the villain was in our face from jump and for me it didn’t become clear until the last episode.

I questioned how much influence Coogler would have on this and I think he had more or the writer paid homage to him because a lot of him was in it.

I could see that point, I still don't like it though. If Hood wasn't a real villian, but just another side character, then they spent too much time on him.

I don't know if I can call Riri a villian but she is definitely her own worst enemy. I like said before, 3 different characters (including her mother!) called Riri a selfish manipulative asshole who uses people. And it became harder and harder to defend her as the series went on

If you cats are focused on just Hood.

Then you are not looking at the full story.

Its pretty obvious Hood has not been the first acolyte Mephisto has had going by the conversation he had with Hood/Riti.

The bigger story is Mephisto is in panic mode because of the Scarlet Witch.

We saw the Scarlet Witch achieve full power and get access to the Darkhold book. That shit sent a APB to Mephisto. Good chance their is information in that book on how to take out Mephisto/Dormammu and other cosmic entities.

Hood was like Loki to Thanos, when Thanos gave him the Mind Stone. Loki was just a tool. Hood was a tool. And now Riri is a tool.

Mephisto would have been a waste of time if he debuted earlier in the series. No way Riri could go against him. Mephisto proved his power over her when he over rode her suit and opened it up.

The fireworks will happen when Mephisto confronts Wanda. Mephisto will probably show back up in “Vision Quest” in some way.

We will wait and see…
