My thing is, Mel asks the question on the pod.
"Did I do something to you?"
Marc answers, "No." And then he asks, "Do you think I shoot at you more than, Emanny, Flip or Ish?"
And the answers were no.
Joe says he's going to put this clip out, repeatedly.......
Marc further explains his point
Then Mel becomes dismissival, but then says she doesn't want this to become a Marc V Mel issue, yet then why the fuck did you bring it up on the pod?! This could've happened off camera.
Then to say she wants the whol clip cut from the pod..... (which l, I mean, it should have been, since they all have the right to ask for cuts)
But still this could have been handled better
Apparently, they can ask for a cut, but it's not guaranteed this will happen. That's completely different than how it was presented in the past. You can argue most companies wouldn't hear you at all, but it really is pointless unless more often than not the request is respected. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle and the comments are cut because it could impact the show or Joe himself.
Ive shared my thoughts on Mel in the past. this situation was kind of fucked up but she fell for it. Clearly, she thought she'd have support from Joe or others. Flip and Joe hyped her up, setback laughed and said oh I didn't know this was serious.
Mel wasn't willing to speak for herself and honestly Marc's counter was true. Not only was it true for Marc but most of the cast. At this point, Emony and Flip get belittled the most. Ish is clearly used for content at times as well. Mel seemingly really does want special treatment and falls back on being a victim due to being a woman when that doesn't happen. Truthfully, I think they treat Parks differently because he is White and he doesn't present himself like Rory. That would leave Ice who really is the weakest link even under E on the surface. It crazy that a known troll can't take jokes. There are exceptions but most of what we see is how men act amongst themselves for better or worse. Mel being a woman just doesn't fit into that culture.
I think Joe released the clip because it was Marc and not another member of the cast. Chances are if it's Ish, he'll get emotional at somepoint and then it looks like a woman is being attacked by a group of men. Joe's said as much in one of the behind the scenes. With Marc being seen as a champion of women and being more articulent without the emotional outburst, Marc is safe.
Not only that most clearly view Mel as the aggressor. Even if Marc was being a smart ass per the norm, he gets to play it like that isn't the case after Mel displayed having a clear issue with Marc's comments. Even though i get her snapping at Flip, it helped with making her look like the issue here. Yes, he called himself trying to help, but im guessing none of them like to look dumb compared to Marc, so Flip cutting her off pissed her off more. That and she didn't know what Flip would say and assumed it would be in support of Marc or try to be funny in general. If you are constantly being sarcastic, it's not unreasonable for Mel or anyone to feel like Marc is going at them again especially since the fans seem to enjoy it. This is one of the few times Mel was gaslighted by Joe, Flip and potentially Marc.
