Just two days ago, I had both my house and garage siding replaced. When I initially received an estimate, the representative who visited was white and assured me that the entire job would be completed in a single day. I was doubtful but decided to accept his offer. At 7 a.m., a large truck arrived, and a crew of seven Hispanic men and two women jumped out. We conversed for a couple of minutes before they started working. Despite the temperature being 98 degrees, they all wore long-sleeve shirts and large hats. They commenced removing my old siding and worked tirelessly until noon, taking only a single 30-minute break when Grubhub delivered them Popeyes. Everyone enjoyed chicken and fries while sitting in the shade of my bay window, chatting and having fun. Remarkably, they ended up putting in 13 hours of labor in that heat with just the one break. The following day, another crew came to install my gutters even though it was raining, and they didn't stop working at all. The supervisor, who was white, drove by in his new company truck and brought Gatorade every few hours. What I want to emphasize is that none of them spoke English except for one, while another attempted to communicate, and we used his cell phone translator. I was very satisfied with the work done.
