People that believe only socialism is pure. Everyone else is corrupt and wrong and should never be compromised with.

A true "leftist" is interested in government by and for the people, and promote things like socialized health care (meaning EVERYBODY gets it), full employment opportunities, and the elimination of discrimination.
I don't understand what you mean by the belief that only socialism is pure.
Most of Western Europe practices democratic socialism, democracy (actually, democratic republics) tempered by socialist ideals, such as free college education, health care for all citizens, and equality of all citizens. That is why you hardly ever see anybody from Belgium or Norway trying to become U.S. citizens.
That is NOT what the people you describe are. Corporate democrats (the ones that count on big cash to win elections (Obama, Clinton), as opposed to appealing to the people (Bernie), are the reason the democratic party is a raging dumpster fire.
Nobody elected George Clooney, but he and a small group of powerful so-called liberals and their donors decided the old white guy who won the last time couldn't win again for some reason.
Kamala was a compromise. In order to get TRUE democrats (like the ones you might see in a movie from the 60s-90s) to accept the hijacking of the candidacy for president (we the people voted for BIDEN, that is why he won) AGAIN (they knee capped Bernie as well), they ran a Black female candidate.
In short, I argue this:
The problem is white Americans.
White Americans are the nazis currently running things.
White liberal Americans appeal to us as the "good cop", with an unspoken but oft practiced caveat: at the end of the day, WHITE people make the ultimate decision with respect to the party's direction.
Left, right or anything in between in this country, things are ultimately run by white people, and ultimately for their benefit and according to their whims.
I recall a line from a movie..can't remember which one: "does it matter if you are raped in prison by a black man or a white man?"
Does matter if you are screwed by a republican or a democrat pretending to be acting in your best interest?

The final measure of US Q1 GDP came in at -0.5% -->worse than expected.
Take a look at consumer spending. It turned out to be a look weaker than initially thought. That's worth watching.
It's a similar story with "real final sales to private domestic purchasers," another key indicator of demand. It was only 1.9% in Q1, a lot weaker than the 3% initial estimate.

It seems clear there is an urgency of creating or misidentifying a national emergency in order to suspend the constitution.
Elections have been held in the U.S. before under what was effectively martial law.
That does NOT mean those in power now want to do the same thing.
For the first time in my life, I think a civil war is very possible.
It might be necessary. They won't relinquish power willingly, no matter what the populace thinks.

Whether or not they can pull it off will be debatable, but it would not surprise me at all that some of the people in control would think this way.
What's scary is how easy it would be for the GOP propaganda machine to make it happen.
First, it'll be "things are too unstable for mid-terms". Probably cite some bullshit like, "the machines/workers/etc. can't be trusted", "rioters/protestor intimidation"... whatever buzz words they are using a year from now. They'll probably offer something soft like "postponing mid-terms" until the general election.
And if that happens, we're cooked. Because whatever excuse they used for mid-terms, they will double down on for the general.
Although honestly, it may not even be that complicated. If this gets codified, it will be a struggle to get it reversed even if elections happen and change the margins. Democrats are soft on unity anyway, so it would only take a few loose cannons to derail any efforts to remove bad policy.
They also know good and well that if they bully these cuts and new policy through now, there may not even be room for repercussions. Look at someone like Mitch McConnell. What is anyone going to do to him that's "punishment"? Not re-elect him? He has plenty of money in pocket, more on the way, and has literally done every dirty ass thing his heart could dream of (and then some).
