Pope Francis dies at 88

I'm not religious at all and don't put much stock in their respective leaders but as popes go he seemed fairly decent and made an attempt to bring some tolerance and change to his religion.

They need to choose a younger pope this time if they want some stability in that role.

It's going to be interesting to see who they choose especially considering how unstable things in the world are right now.

What age range are your talking about when you say they need a younger pope?

I've seen that posted around.
The Pope did meet with Vance.
RIP

That meeting was considered informal and only lasted a few minutes.

The Pope didn't attend the formal/official meeting.

"Vance, a Catholic who has clashed with the pontiff over the Trump administration's immigration policies, met Francis at his Vatican residence to exchange Easter greetings, the statement said."

"Pope Francis had a brief private encounter ... lasting a few minutes, in order to exchange good wishes on Easter day," said the statement. After Easter Mass, the pope later appeared in St. Peter's Square to greet crowds in an open-air popemobile."

"The vice president, who has been visiting Italy with his family this weekend, met senior Vatican officials for more formal talks on Saturday. The pope, who is recovering from double pneumonia, did not take part in those discussions."

If you haven't seen it, watch the movie Conclave. I had no idea that picking a Pope was so political.

I remembered seeing that poster about that pope movie but I never took the time to watch it.

I'm thinking about doing the same as well to check it out.
Hadn't seen the post above before I posted.

John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci, and Ralph Fiennes put on a masterclass in acting. Movie is 2 hours and starts off kind of slow but it picks up once the voting actually starts.

Why do they need a pope? Lol

I'll definitely make a note to check it out.

I wasn't aware of it either until I read the DaVinci Code which has the appointment of a new pope as part of the story.

Not a Catholic but I do come from a heavily Catholic family and a heavily Catholic city and Francis did seem like a decent human being.

The Catholic church does need serious reform, the idea of these priests being expected to have a lifetime of celibacy is ridiculous and I'm curious if they'll select a more conservative pope or another rather progressive pope.
