Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

I need some feedback...

Do you hear a whole lot of white boy subliminal hate in this "glowing" review? I actually like his reviews overall but...

@raze @ViCiouS @Day_Carver @largebillsonlyplease @REDLINE @wood

I see Jeremy at screenings sometimes. We talk. He is a true movie and game buff…
He's the standard Seattle liberal, not the Andrew Tate wanna-be type of white guy.
Its just as loud to me as it is to you @playahaitian lots of great replies on this

As I said - my in theater experience was salted with such cacophonies

They do not see or hear us. They do not care to see or hear us. They pride themselves on being tolerant of us not for our benefit but as a holier than thou one up on their more fuck all niggas and everybody like them lynch happy brethren because it also eases both their anxieties/fears and their guilty consciences. There is very very little room with any of them for fellowship/allyship. This kind of passive/micro aggressive I’m one of the good ones energy is almost always the best/safest you can hope for. Shit is very fuckin pitiful. And thankfully a healthy few brothers and sisters are evermore disinterested. We can’t afford to be unaware… but knowing when you do engage that you are always dealing with a devil so to speak may not be any better for our mental/emotional wellness but it will continue to keep us necessarily on guard.

This shit is super relevant as a conversation around the central theme of this flick re:
feeling free if only for that moment in a forcefully protected space for us by us
It's never going to hit them the same way. Some folks have a hard time, even unconsciously, reading or watching stories where the heroes don't look like them. They can't put their finger on it, but something feels off. It's good but they don't know what the fuss is all about. That's why I always seek out Black critics regarding projects like this.

Bro post of the month.

That's what I was trying to say couldn't find the words

I'm going to have to DM you about him because I was a huge fan them cut him off but I came back.

Many, if not most white liberals can't help themselves. White supremacy is their core. They don't have a true, "This land is your land this land is my land," kind of outlook. They still see us and our work as less than.

Black people can watch friends, three's company, Big bang theory and tons of other white shows with no black representation and thoroughly enjoy it, no cap, no sauce. We can see it and love and respect it for what it is, but white people, particularly white liberals that pretend to be cool that too many get a pass to come to the picnic and they show their true colors

Far too many white people don't see themselves represented and automatically a percentage of their brain goes on ignore mode. They miss out on so much because they are intentionally closed-minded to the culture of anything but their own.

I can't begin to name the amount of white movies and TV shows I watched that didn't have a single black person throughout their entire run and I enjoyed it, enjoyed the writing enjoyed the acting enjoyed the art and respecting it for what it was, but them? I pity them

White folks tend to short-circuit when black folks don't need them.

which talk to me you talkin bout? I was all set to give props thinkin you meant Don Cheadle/Ejiofor/Kasi Lemmons (2007) but then recalled the horror flick and realized oh that’s more likely your reference lol. I still gotta check out WOMAN KING tho so thanks for biggin that one up too. Hope HAVOC has even a little bit of that RAID sauce on it lol
Like that Talk to me as well, but yea the horror one that came out, caught me by surprise. I watched it cause wasn't shit else to watch on a chill day and they actually did a good fucking job. I was entertained throughout the whole thing. Practical special effects, no cgi bullshit. I didn't find it scary but it's a great horror film, I can't say there's really any slow moments in it. It's one that I'm ready to line up for the next "nextflix & chill" session. There's a pretty dope twist in it as well, won't spoil it in case you decide to check it out.

This movie was stressful. Great movie. Bloody ending.

I'll do my best to not spoil it.
1-Go support it. Imax > regular. I saw both.
2-If you don't support it...watch it with those that don't know about the Jim Crow south. I saw a lot of young people's first time visual experience of that time for us.

I've always believed we are "limited" by our experiences but to think "current year attitudes" isn't possible in less than 80 years is ignorant as hell.

THIS

That’s why Brother Coogler is so important to the culture. We need that part of our history told.

Hey @playahaitian heres that conversation with Bill Simmons and Van in context. I rhink this a good discussion but Coogs aint gonna make something just to make something. If we really want to get in the weeds and I know it's not a coincidence..Coogler = Kendrick..the way they take their time and the attention to detail. Oakland stand up!
