A doctor born in the United States says she received an email from federal immigration authorities demanding that she leave the country immediately.

Lisa Anderson, a physician from Cromwell, Connecticut, told NBC Connecticut on Wednesday that she recently received a letter from the Department of Homeland Security telling her, “It is time for you to leave the United States."

Immigration authorities have been pushing noncitizens to leave of their own volition, or “self-deport,” as the number of deportations remains at similar levels to last year.

But Anderson, 58, was born in Pennsylvania and is a U.S. citizen.

"The language seemed pretty threatening to whomever it might actually apply to," she said.

A senior DHS official told NBC News that the department has been issuing the notices to individuals who do not have lawful status to remain in the country.

"If a non-personal email — such as an American citizen contact — was provided by the alien, notices may have been sent to unintended recipients," :smh: the officials said. "CBP is monitoring communications and will address any issues on a case-by-case basis."

"To be clear: If you are an alien, being in the United States is a privilege — not a right," the officials added. "We are acting in the best interest of the country and enforcing the law accordingly."

The email to Anderson comes days after a Boston immigration attorney — who is also a U.S. citizen — received the same email from DHS, telling her to leave the country within seven days. The attorney, Nicole Micheroni, told MSNBC that as of Tuesday, federal officials had not followed up.

Pointing to the Boston email, Anderson said that she does not "have anything to do with immigration."

Anderson has been carrying her U.S. passport on her at all times since receiving the email and is seeking an immigration attorney.

“It does make me concerned there’re a lot more people out there like me who probably also thought this was spam, who probably didn’t realize, ‘I have a problem,’” she said.

But then, he said, he read the email more closely, and was “really bothered” by the content.

The email said Frantz — a 68-year-old retired college administrator and teacher, and American citizen born in western Pennsylvania — was in the United States on humanitarian parole and his parole was being terminated.

“If you do not depart the United States immediately you will be subject to potential law enforcement actions that will result in your removal from the United States,” the email stated.

“Do not attempt to remain in the United States — the federal government will find you,” it added. “Please depart the United States immediately.”

Frantz has never been on or applied for humanitarian parole. He’s lived in the Fox Valley since moving in 1981 for a job at what is now the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at....

Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckle tattoos have sparked controversy and speculation about potential MS-13 ties. The tattoos include a marijuana leaf, smiley face, cross, and skull. Some have speculated these symbols could represent MS-13, but this interpretation is unverified and met with skepticism. Official sources, including the Department of Homeland Security, have not confirmed any gang affiliation based on these tattoos. The situation remains unresolved publicly, with no conclusive evidence linking Garcia to MS-13 through his tattoos.

Education Department clarifies upcoming changes to income-driven loan repayment

The Department of Education has clarified in court filings that spousal income will not be a factor in income-driven loan payment, which may result in lower payments for some borrowers.

The Department of Education amended a student loan payment policy this week that could come as reassurance for some borrowers who were concerned their payments were about to go up.

A court declaration from the department filed in April suggested that people could be required to make higher loan payments if they were both married and making loan payments based on an income-driven repayment plan.

That declaration said that "married borrowers filing separate income tax returns or separated from their spouses will have spousal income counted for the purposes of calculating monthly payment amount under IDR plans, which is a required consequence of the Eighth Circuit’s opinion directing a broadened preliminary injunction."

The Education Department amended that declaration on Wednesday to make clear that spousal income will not be a factor in loan payment.

Now, it reads "married borrowers filing separate income tax returns or separated from their spouses will have the spouse counted in the family size for the purposes of calculating monthly payment amount under IDR plans."

This change means not only will payments not increase, some may actually decrease. Under the rules that govern IDR plans and the SAVE Plan, family size — which may increase if a spouse is counted — is part of the calculation that determines payment amounts.

The new filing comes as part of a lawsuit brought in March against the Trump Department of Education. Student borrowers sued after the department took down an online system that let borrowers apply for income-driven repayment. Plaintiffs argued that it wasn't legal to cut off access to those plans.

The department is working to reopen access to the IDR systems. In the latest court filings, officials indicated applications would resume by May 10, 2025.

I'm just going to say again that Trump just had the worst approval ratings on the economy with Independent voters IN HISTORY, and he convinced the opposition party to completely ignore it in order to die on a hill on bringing back an immigrant in a country that said with their votes that they want immigrants out of the country.

And Dems are saying the same dumb shit "we have to get it out there so people know what's going on" instead of accepting the fact that a racist country does not want brown immigrants in it or at least they're not going to be upset about bringing one back. Dems actually think Trump is running scared from this case. The official White House X account posted mocking VanHolland, the NYT, and saying this guy is NEVER COMING BACK. Those are the words of people very happy to have this fight with you.

I have knews for Dems, it not that the media is keeping people from knowing "what's going on".

Anyone that wants to know what's going on can type "Garcia" into Google and get all the information right there. So if people won't even do a Gogle search, what makes you think they're going to watch a bunch of news reports.

You will not be able to force people that don't care about this to care, no matter if you read it in an audio book or have it on every CNN and MSNBC block (which is already is.) I've even heard Dems saying to get this on the BBC and Al Jazeera like mfers are watching either of them.

The one thing Dems absolutely refuse to do is listen to voters and cater to what the voters want - honestly because they think the voters are dumb and then need to be educated to care about the proper things.

And this is why Dems are in danger of losing these midterms.
