Daredevil: Born Again
Season One
9 Episodes
I got home last night and started the new series this morning on Disney+ and finished this afternoon.
I looked it up and the official time between Netflix season 3 and this new series is around 5-7 years.
The series opens up with the first episode bringing back Matt, Karen and Foggy. Josie’s bar is back.
Matt debuts the new suit that the tailor Melvin made in Season 3 and we see the upgrades he put in the suit. Matt has a kick ass fight scene with Bullseye with Matt displaying him using the nun chucks the way he does in the comics. The Netflix series did not display them fully. The first 15 minutes before opening credit roll delivers a lot.
After the opening credit roll, the series jumps one year. Kingpin and Vanessa return. Kingpin announces his run for Mayor, running for office came up in the Netflix series. Michael Gandofini debuts working with Kingpin, a good tongue-in-cheek Easter Egg.
Matt has a new law firm due to what happened to Foggy. He has a former police officer, now PI working with him. Good chance this will lead in to Jessica Jones returning next season.
Spiderman is referenced, not by name. We should be seeing him and Kingpin interact in the future. White Tiger is introduced and is the subject in the first 3 episodes. Reporter Ben from the Daily Bulletin in Netflix, his niece debuts in this series.
Muse debuts in Episode 3. Frank Castle debuts in Episode 4. Ms. Marvel’s father debuts in Episode 5. The Swordsman debuts in Episode 6.
After the first episode, the series is a somewhat slow burn, mainly due with the season focusing on Matt continuing questioning himself in his role as Daredevil and Kingpin getting adjusted to NYC Bureaucracy/politics which conflicts with him being a criminal.
Not too many fight sequences being it is more character development in updating their bios. Violence is more graphic and hardcore than what Netflix did which was impressive.
With the final montage going thru all the surviving characters, it definitely looks like season 2 is going to be more amped up than season one.
There is a mid-credit scene.
Looking forward to season 2.
