Has anyone here ever had a car repossessed?

Last night after getting home from a meeting, I was sitting in my driveway and I noticed a repo tow truck slowly pass by, then it turned the corner. A few minutes later it came back down the street and backed into my next door neighbors driveway, quickly lifted her shit up, and the driver jumped out with a flashlight and checked the Vin.

The owner came out and began talking to the driver. Then she started getting her car seat and stuff out of the car. Mother of 3 young girls.

I hated seeing it and hated even more that she knew that I witnessed it.

Any of you ever had a car repo'd?

Yep! It happened very similar to what happened to your "neighbor" (I get it brotha, this BGOL we all make too much money to have our items repo'ed. I buy everything cash I don't even know how to SPELL financing) I had to scrape the money that I was behind on to get the car back, PLUS the fee for them repo-ing it. And didn't mind that so much, but where they took the car was like two hours away and then the car wouldn't start when I picked it up.

Yeah, they got me for my Mini Cooper back in the day around 2010. I was just being unorganized with my finances and paying it in 2 -3 month chunks. I guess that last chunk I waited was too long and them niggas came like a thief in the night when we were sleep. I woke up and told my ex-wife, "Somebody stole my shit!!"

Her: What?!! The Mini?
Me: Yeah!
Her: When did you last make a payment?
Me: Uhhh, err.. 'bout 3 months ago?

Her::hmm:

happened to me in my early 20s but not due to owing money. I financed a MERCURY TRACER back when i was getting on my feet. was to be my very first new car. paper work completed and i drove to show my family, before heading home (had an apartment)...i swear i didn't even get to keep the car an entire weekend. Somehow the dealership changed or amended the terms of the deal, didn't tell me shit. came in the middle of the night and took the car. I woke up like "What the fuck?"

i call the dealership and they tell me "you need to get in here".
my first response was - you took the car!
my next response was "keep the motherfucker" and hung up.
Fuck them.

The Oldsmobile dealer ship did some fcukery like that when I was younger. They never sent me a bill...so I never paid it. The finance guy didn't put my address into their system so I would never get a physical bill, I think that went on for about 4 months.

Yo! As a wet behind the ears private in the army, I bought a Mustang from a lemon lot. Not only did they misspell my last name, but they also had 2 wrong digits in my SSN. I had that car for about 9 months and never paid a bill, because I never got one. I ended up leaving it dead on the side of the road, and it never showed up on my credit report. That car was truly a piece of shit!

you leave the key in it ? ..... i know a nukka that did that .....

I do a 45 minute walk at night around my neighborhood (part of 75 Hard) and there's been this repo tow truck creeping for weeks now trying to find a car. He picked up an Impala down the street from me, but when the driver checked the VIN he dropped it. Whoever's car it is, they're doing an excellent job hiding it.

Probably someone that was overly happy about reeling in another sucker, which I was at the time. I noticed it after I got back to the barracks and decided not to bring it up. I made that decision, because AFTER I bought the car, the vets told me what kind of car lot is was.

Nope, took 'em with me. I ended up throwing them away years later while I was getting ready to get out, and sorting through junk I wouldn't be taking with me.
cant remember where we were in NYC, but you could drive it but you couldn't steer it .....

back in the day my peeps use to use paid parking lots .....

Back in the 80's, my girlfriend (living with me), had her shit grabbed. Came out in the morning to go to work and shit was gone. Neighbor a few doors down was waiting and told us she was ringing our doorbell as it was happening. We were either fucking or sleeping extra hard because I didn't hear a thing! I was pissed because I had just installed a new stereo in that mufucka. I called and asked if I could remove it and they told me yeah. Get to the auto pound and they tell me no. Only paperwork out the glove box. My petty ass made her pay for it. I felt bad later on. I used to do some real selfish shit back then!

She had stopped paying and never asked me for help. I would have helped her.

Those dealerships around the base were the worst. When I went in I signed up for a 3k bonus. I ended up buying a Ford Topaz from my base news paper classifieds. It lasted me a good 7 years.

Never had a car repo'd. But I've had two rentals towed. Funky apartment parking rules both times. It is a horrible feeling to go to your car only for it to be gone. You go through all the stages of grief except acceptance until you realize it wasn't stolen but towed.

Are the tow drivers allowed to open up a closed garage door to look for or try to get a vehicle?

It’s very common, however banks aren’t in the business of buying and selling cars… they would rather you call them and work something out before they even get to a repo
