Did you support the trade? I always was wary of Butler because of his age and contract. I had my sights set on KD but once he declined , I honestly would have sat pat. Butler is performing better than I expected and I appreciate the short-term boost as a fan but keep in mind he will be making damn near twice as much as Wiggins over the next two years. If they get the short-term benefit and send Butler somewhere else in the next year, getting value for him and getting off that contract, I think it can be a good trade. But unless they really deliver— like a title or a finals— I don’t think it’s a good trade if Butler is still on the roster in two years getting paid almost $60 million.

I absolutely supported the trade if it was Wiggins for butler which it essentially ended up being

Teams had a recent history of accepting decent trades from others but expecting us to move everything we have for 1 player.

Butler led the heat to two finals most recently as an 8 seed.
Wiggins never showed that capability period and never will. His height is 3rd option 19 and 5 guy which is awesome if you need a 3. He had ample opportunity to take a step and assert being the 2 but didn't. I don't fault him for that everyone has a role. But if you take a 3 and get a guy who's a proven 1 and make him the 1a I'm doing that 10 out of 10

I agree about guaranteed contracts… if I had my way, a lot more money would be going to the players generally, not a bullshit 50/50 revenue split.

But I do wish the distribution was more equitable. I don’t think it is good to have a few billionaires and other players for whom tournament win bonuses are meaningful. Even though nobody buys a ticket to see Kevon Looney or GP2, players like that shouldn’t be getting comparative scraps. The game needs its stars but it can’t function without its role players and it’s easy to undervalue their contributions.

The problem is and always has been GMs are terrible for the most part at money management but the public is pro ownership in every BLACK sport

The attitude towards labor in every other sport and every other walk of life is "Fuck CEOs they don't deserve more money"
But if the money is going to niggas suddenly everyone is a union buster

Back to the GMs
They essentially manage $150m dollars a year
Everyone gets the same amount of money
Some teams are good most are shitty
If you're the hornets how do you go into the office and say I've wasted $150m for 4 years now but it's ok?
What other job could you literally do that and it's fine?
If they don't know how to manage money I can't really even judge how a competent salary structure would look.
