I’m conflicted about Towler. On one hand, what he’s posting is again enlightening about what he was and wasn’t paying attention too and it’s bullshit. On the other hand, I think he’s in his feelings and rightfully so. Harris didn’t lose bc of the lost Black & Brown folks. She lost bc the electoral college and white folks didn’t want to vote for a Black woman & Democrat. Also, anyone that’s paid attention to Presidents and VPs (save for Trump) knows that they don’t talk shit about predecessors while they are in office. VP Harris chin checked Trump more than any Pres and VP. it’s always great to hear the Honorable Sister Crockett. Her voice is a clear signal that people are finally hearing. Unfortunately, she’s also saying things that Honorable Sisters AOC & Omar have been saying for years but people weren’t hearing them, tried silencing them, or belittling them.
I’m not even going to expound on how when women of color speak out strongly, it is rare they are believed or heard by people and especially men.
On another note, I wish Garland handed things differently but I don’t think he is to be blamed. Harris did talk about policy. She was the only candidate pressed on them. All Trump had to do is say its going to be beautiful, bigger and better than anything we've ever had. They didn't often ask how and they few times they did he told them to just wait and see and that ended the questions. She needed an answer down to the most minute detail, and no answer was ever good enough.
Harris didn't speak on the dangers of Trump to Gaza, but she expressed support for Palestine and Israel. She had to diplomatic. Her surrogates however did and I know all of the dems here did also.
When Harris first got the nomination and the enthusiasm for her took off, Netanyahu started to come to the table for a deal. He had been holding out to see if Trump or Biden would win and it seemed like it would be Harris. Then he spoke with Trump and suddenly the deal was off. Trump and Elon have been interfering with US policy behind the scenes for years.
But anyone who says they didn't know didn't want to know. They said we survived Trump the first time and would again. That it didn't matter who was in charge, because nothing changes for Black folk. Never mind that all the generals and "adults in the room" who were there before are no longer there to keep him in check and we now have a SCOTUS ruling that makes him think he is a King.
