Most mofos in Texas have the state minimum liability insurance or no insurance at all. I been in 4 accidents,1drunk driver no insurance and the other 3 had the 30k minimum.
Luckily I keep underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage.

It doesn’t matter because he’s a real police officer who was injured while on duty. He’s about to get paid.
The best thing about workers comp laws/benefits in TX are that they cover the injury for life even if you stop working.
The money ain't the best, the weekly pay max while out on injury is around 1100 a week. Then your job will pay the difference. If his weekly pay is 1500 weekly then workers comp pays 1100 and the job will pay 400. Then after you recover and return to full duty work you get an impairment rating which gives you compensation.
I had a back injury at work, ended up having back surgery. When I came back to work the state gave me an impairment rating of 11%, which meant i got a check 741.00 weekly for 33 weeks. Each percent equals 3 weeks. The impairment rating pay is kind of like a settlement.
The workers comp money ain't that good, best benefit is it's tax free.
Now he can also do a personal injury suit on the chick, but the amount will depend of the insurance coverage the chick had, but guess what the attorney will take at least 33 percent of the settlement and workers comp will want a cut also on what they paid(attorney will be able to negotiate down bit no guarantee how much).

Assault can be committed recklessly. When he jumped on, she clearly saw his leg and foot right by her window. When she took off at the very least she was reckless. That still probably a second-degree carrying 2 to 20. Because it’s a peace officer it might be a first-degree carrying 5 to 99 our life.
With decent counsel she will beat this case in court.
