Family Matters was not a, well written show and in past interviews White admitted that. He said how the white writers didn't know how to write authentic Black characters. He HIMSELF said they didn't know what to do until they introduced the Urkel character. They could identify with a nerdy annoying character and went out of their way to write for that character.
