That “agreement” appears to not acknowledge Hezbollah. Israel can still attack them according to the agreement.
Seem like Israel drew this up
Israeli Media Published the Full Ceasefire Agreement Between Israel and Lebanon, Which Includes the Following Terms:
1. Non-Aggression: Hezbollah and all other armed groups in Lebanon will refrain from initiating any offensive actions against Israel.
2. Israeli Commitment: Israel will abstain from conducting any offensive military operations against targets in Lebanon, whether on land, sea, or air.
3. Resolution 1701: Both nations affirm the significance of adhering to UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
4. Self-Defense: These commitments do not restrict either Israel or Lebanon from exercising their inherent right to self-defense.
5. Authorized Forces: Only Lebanon's official security and military forces are permitted to bear arms or operate in southern Lebanon.
6. Weapons Supervision: The sale, supply, and production of weapons and related materials for Lebanon will be overseen and regulated by the Lebanese government.
7. Dismantling Unauthorized Facilities: All unapproved facilities involved in weapon production or related activities will be dismantled.
8. Confiscation of Unauthorized Weapons: Military infrastructure and positions that do not align with the agreement will be dismantled, and all unauthorized weapons will be seized.
9. Monitoring Committee: A mutually agreed-upon committee will be established to monitor and support the enforcement of these commitments.
10. Reporting Violations: Israel and Lebanon will report any potential violations to the monitoring committee and UNIFIL.
11. Border Security Deployment:Lebanon will deploy its official security and military forces along all borders, crossing points, and within the designated southern region as outlined in the deployment plan.
12. Israeli Withdrawal: Israel will withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line in a phased process over a period of up to 60 days.
13. US-Facilitated Negotiations: The United States will promote indirect negotiations between Israel and Lebanon to establish a mutually recognized land border.
What do you think about this agreement?
Seem heavy towards Israel along with a setup for Israelis to strike and invade whenever.
I see a effort to get Hezbollah far away from the border as possible.
I would’ve never imagined Hezbollah would agree to this.
So all that support for the Palestinians ends just like that?
I saw once post from Hezbollah saying this is not that they sent over but idk…
Washington and Israelis wants to isolate Hamas and the Palestinians, from support.
What’s your take on it?
Bro, time will tell is all I can really say.
I'm wondering if the deal wasn't struck by the US and Lebanon instead of by Israel and Hezbollah.
If I'm right about that, it's a shame because Lebanon can't control Hezbollah and the US can't control Israel. So it's just a matter of time before the ceasefire is broken. If both sides really wanted a ceasefire they wouldn't have kept shooting at each other until the very last minute possible.
Anyway, looking at it as is...
It's a complete failure for Hezbollah. They said they were shooting rockets at Israel to force them to stop the Gaza invasion. Well that didn't happen. Its not happening now either. And Gaza isn't mentioned at all in any of the agreements I've seen. So are they giving up on their Palestinian brothers? Sure looks that way. So what was it all for in the first place? Oh and they got their leader's heads blown off for their trouble.
For Israel their displaced population won't feel safe going back home. That's for sure. Hezbollah left but Lebanon's army is moving in. I guess that's better for them but I'm not sure they see it that way. They know who is giving Hezbollah orders and if they say go South and shoot, Lebanon couldn't stop them even if they wanted to. So IMHO Israel will still be left with a refugee problem. However it does free the rest of the military to focus on Gaza. Really bad news for Palestinians.
At the end of the day it puts all the pressure back on Hamas and only Hamas. We can go back and forth all day on the morality of Oct 7th, but what's done is done. The point is made. Now it's just about how many Palestinian deaths each side can stomach.
I go back to what I said about Hamas. It's time to put the arms down and release the hostages. The fighting part of the resistance has to end one day.
