"One day I hope us black people can be wise and mature enough to discuss and understand the implications of not recasting Tchalla"

One day I hope us black people can be wise and mature enough to discuss and understand that not recasting Tchalla immediately does not mean it is a permanent decision.

And that there is a very important significance to mourning that specific character properly before doing so.

And also mourning the actor attached to that role.

That black characters, black actors and all black lives need to be shown a reverence and respect that we are very rarely if ever shown on screen or off.

That part too.

Too bad we black folk don't make those decisions on whether or not to do so.
If white Hollywood wants to recast him....they will.

But we also gotta make sure these studios are held accountable. We need to be in front and behind the camera. And in the board room.

I say prequel to understand the origins of the glow in the hood and why it was needed for survival in Harlem late 70s/ early 80s with all the nyc crews and gangs.. shonuff was a product of his environment

I love it except I'm tired of the villian always being retrofitted to be any type hero in Hollywood lately

Just let a villian be a villian.

Villains have origins story to.. there’s a method to one’s madness, Freddy Krueger even has a origin story of why he is the way he is, created from 100 men rape on his mother, raised by abusive foster care system, yadda, yadda

I get that I'm talking of a very specific trope I'm getting tired of.

I don't know if they would ever let a black lead character villian get that type of complete story arc.

But you got the foundation for something dope. Like Creed good if done right.

You should really sit down and try to outline that seriously.

You should get on it

How would it be done w/o Julius Carry..or Vanity for that matter (R.I.P to both)

The movie was already written and ready for production before the passing of Chad. It would have been to difficult to recast as they were already up against deadlines.

Delaying the moving even further would have been costly. However, they did recast it with his son so that was the best option to me.

Make our own entertainment
With what and how? Please be specific. When they control every form of media. They own every outlet by which entertainment is produced and released. How is making our own going to change, for example, casting tchalla? A character that they created no less. I think people just love to say let’s do it ourselves; it’s really ridiculous and obsurd to say things like that without context. Let me repeat they control and own every form of media media outlets and every thing in between. So it doesn’t matter, at this point, if we make our own entertainment…

There's a member of this board who makes his own TV and Movies and got himself a deal with Amazon Prime I believe. I think he said he started out making a YouTube web series. Self taught.

Let's not engage in self defeatism.

Some will never do anything in life and will say "They" stopped them from achieving.

Who control Amazon and YouTube? Whatever deal he got he and or his company still answer to them. My point. And ultimately they can dictate his or hers content and how it is shared

You're right my man. We have no control over our own lives, completely at the mercy of "Them".

I'm sure Tyler Perry would agree with you. You got it from here boss man.

Let me leave with this:

What would you do

If you knew

You could not fail?

Your sarcasm isn’t funny nor does it answer the questions or address the points. But that’s common when people aren’t realistic and or don’t produce real tangible things to change things. It’s all good though pimp…

No sarcasm meant.

It's that defeatist mindset that holds folks back and becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. That is my point.

Some view the world with limitations and others see limitless opportunities. If that's not realistic and tangible to you, that's a matter of your mindset and perspective.

Change your mindset, change your circumstances.

Tyler Perry made his own shit and essentially has complete control. And has production companies like Marvel paying him to use his Studios. So it can be done, and others are following suit.

50 Cent has a production studio
Tyrese has a production Studio
Will Smith has a production company
Denzel has a production company
Michael T Jordan has a production company

All Black men, most of whom collaborated with or were mentored by Denzel.

Etcetera....

So it's happening, the general public may just not be aware of who owns what behind the scenes.

What is defeat? Or mindset as you say? I asked specifically how to do it and you didn’t give specifics. You don’t know my mindset because I didn’t share it lol. And you mentioned Tyler. His content that he creates is still on their platforms. His movies and plays and tv shows comes out on their platforms. That means they are in control. And I’m not a fan of Tyler content. I think what he has done and how he came is amazing inspiring uplifting; but his content is not for me. So again going back to your statement of creating our own entertainment. We do that all the time. They either own it control it and or take it…
