About 2 months before the COVID19 [Pandemic] I thought of growing a beard/ facial to see how it'll look on me. As it'll turn out, we all were to be wearing mask everywhere as it were. For that reason, I resolved never to shave again until the Mask Mandate/ Restriction is lifted.
It has been a little over a year and I must say that I am very unimpressed with the length I got so far. I therefore want to find out if there are any beard/facial hair growers in the house and what products and tricks they have for a rapid fuller growth.
Thanks for your input

Change Your Diet for a Better Beard
According to Jim White, a registered dietician for The American Dietetic Association, the condition of your facial hair directly relates to the health of your body. Omega 3 Fatty Acids (walnuts, salmon, flaxseed oil) will definitely boost hair growth. Protein (chicken, fish, eggs) is also essential for healthy hair growth. Foods that are rich in Vitamin A (spinach, squash, and sweet potatoes) will improve the skin underneath your beard. Vitamins C and E will keep your skin and hair hydrated (ex. broccoli, fruits, and peanut butter). By changing your diet to foods that support growth, you should see results in no time.

Drink Plenty of Water to Help Your Beard Grow
There’s a strong and direct correlation between water consumption and beard growth. Staying hydrated leads to increased blood flow and circulation. Great blood flow ensures that your skin is getting the important nutrients it needs. Healthy skin is the foundation and is mandatory for a healthy and full beard. Proper hydration keeps your beard’s foundation in peak condition.

Wash Your Beard
Yes, that’s right. Your beard needs to be thoroughly washed at least once a week. Depending on your lifestyle, you may need to wash your beard as often as every 2-3 days. From the food you eat to the pollution in the air, the hair on your face grows best when the hair follicles and surrounding area is clean. RULE #1- Never use regular hair shampoo or regular body wash for your beard, as these products can strip your beard of all its natural essential oils. Use a beard wash that is specifically designed to clean and condition your beard at the same time. The main goal is to deep clean in order to make sure you’re promoting healthy beard growth.

Keep Your Beard Moisturized
Caring for a black man’s specific hair texture requires a little more effort. Your hair naturally needs more oil, and the oil glands on your face will not generate enough moisture for both your skin AND your beard. Although our amazing beard wash cleanses and conditions your beard at the same time, for best results, follow up with a natural beard balm product or a natural beard oil or beard growth oil that will lock in that moisture. Black men beards thrives from moisture, and a beard oil or beard balm will keep your beard hydrated and soft all day long.

Use High-Quality Products for Your Beard
The biggest mistake black men make is trying to use regular hair shampoo and moisturizer on their beard. Avoid using products with harsh chemicals at all costs. These products will either clog your pores or strip them of the oils that are good for you. When it comes to taking care of black hair and skin, natural is ALWAYS better. Aside from the benefits of not exposing your body to harsh chemicals, high-quality natural products rarely have adverse effects on your overall health. What you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it, does your current product lineup reflect this?

In addition to high-quality products that you put on your beard, you should also be using high-quality products to groom and style your beard. The right comb or brush can make a big difference in your beard growth. When choosing a comb for your beard make sure it’s smooth so that it won’t pull or tug at your hair. Not only does that hurt but it could also damage the hair follicles and affect how your beard grows. If you prefer a brush, choose one with medium to soft natural boar bristles. This type of brush can tackle to unruliest of beards without damaging it.

It all boils down to genetics, there is no magic sauce to make your beard grow thick and long. For example, you see some homeless dude with full long ZZ Top type beard. I am certain that he is not putting all them products in his beard.

But a brother posted earlier, that use a great quality beard wash/conditioner (Scotch Porter) or another brand. Wash your beard once per week, but condition it every day in the shower. Use the LCO method, Liquid, Creme/Conditioner and Oil...establish a night routine prior to bed and as well as a morning routine. Keep your beard moisturized throughout the day because when it is dry it becomes brittle and breaks or have split ends.

Never Comb your beard when it is dry, that causes breakage and scissor your split ends.

Yep this is it, some guys can grow a full thick beard in a month while others can not cut there facial hair for a year and it will only grow in patches and have bald areas all around. I started growing a beard about a year and a half ago and my only problem is the area where my fingers are pointing in my avatar won’t grow in as thick as the rest of my beard. I use Scotch Porters beard products wash, conditioner and balm, I have their beard serum too but that shit makes your beard to shiny

Genetics are funny, my dad and little brother can grow full beards but my shit patchy ass hell

At that point, just what work with what you got.

I've got the same beard my dad had. My shit's been connected since senior year of HS. My chin piece grows long, and my sides grow curly so they look flat. I didn't put shit on it until like my early 20s when I learned I needed to use oils and conditioner and shit to keep it from looking dusty and having dandruff on my chest and shit. It's soft and healthy looking now, but none of that stuff made any significant difference as far as length or shape from what I could tell.

I think it's just a matter of you either got it or you don't. Just get it shaped up and keep it clean, combed and condition. Ain't really much else you can do with it.

I have used some "regular" stuff from Target, the local Asian Beauty Product store. Some either feel too gooey on my face or can't stand the so called fragrance they have in them.

I just shaved off my beard.

Luckily for me, I'm arab-hairy so the shit will be back in a week and reasonably dark and full in about three but I'm thinking of just edging up the neck and the area around the ear and leaving the cheeks to grow natural.
