That part

I hope these horribly negative experiences don't make my brother stop helping all together which I can understand.

There are so many people that would have appreciated and benefitted from such kindness

Oh, it has definitely put red flags on folks. There were things I could have done with that money to benefit me and my family.

It makes you pessimistic, especially knowing all they had to do was ASK me how to navigate certain aspects of life. They know I’m not going to steer them wrong, but they insist on taking advice from people that’s in the same situation they’re in. It’s not ment for it to make sense to me why people move that way, and I accept that.

You know the worst part about him selling that car?

It’s still in HIS name because he didn’t properly sell it and sign the title over. So the negro he sold it to is just riding around in that shit and I see him from time to time. All I can do is shake my head :smh:

My body temps slightly rises because I get mad, but then I’m like “fuck it.” Lol

Might be too early in the morning for this Vulcan chat but people in those type of desperate situations are emotionally fragile and their logic and reasoning can be off because of all the fear anxiety and stress.

And that isn't me making excuses.

It's a very difficult situation mentally and physically

So even though they know you are a trusted source?

There is shame embarrassment resentment pride involved with getting help they so desperately need from a reliable source.

So they easily opt for the easy quick fix move not thinking a few steps ahead.

I'd forgive them.

Cause they ain't in their right mind

You don't have to ever help them again.

But that's just an explanation to a crazy sad situation from your black Vulcan brother

Your a very good man 4D

I love your empathic response. And I definitely considered how their mind set effects their decision making.

I’ve also considered the less empathic reasonings for the more judgmental one, which is he’s just a dumb ass. Lol.

They have been forgiven and I don’t forgive easily.

Irvine is one of the most expensive cities in California, so not that surprising. Only rich people live in Irvine.

Chick was rear ended, had a picture of the person, thier car and license plate, and didn't want to sue out of some feeling like suing somebody makes you a bad person.

Nevermind that the person wronged you and you have a right to be made whole.

She paid out of pocket for repairs when she could have gotten at least 10k in damages.

I work in insurance. She asked me what to do but decided not to take my advice...it wouldn't have counted against her insurance loss history report.

People don't want your advice or help, they want someone to validate and back their own oftentimes bad decisions.

I recently cut her off because of this mentality. It's a life cycle most don't rise above and I no longer wanted to be party to it.

Man every other car was a Tesla out there.

I'm like....how do u mufuckas not get confused in a grocery store parking lot when it's 50 other cars that look like yours in that bih....?

A lot of this is because people arent married so they dont have a dual income household.

Ameican society and living middle class ie the house and car is mainly only possible with 2 incomes like the generations before.
Social media has kind of ended that though for younger people. With the constant attention women can get there, there is really no incentive for them to pair bond. You can become a passport bro, but those women really have next to no earning power even in their home countries, much less if you brought them here.

I believe that a lot of the 40 and younger crowd are running into the problem of a single income and thinking that they will live like the middle class did in the past.

To reach the "American Dream" it either requires a high earner ie nice six figures or a spouse

The bold part of your comment is very true and something I’ve have been witnessing more often.

When I try to be truthful about how they make decisions, they don’t want to hear it.

What I really dislike are the residual effects one person’s decision can have on other people. I don’t want to feel responsible because a close family member won’t do right, especially when kids are in the picture.

22% of U.S. renters say all their regular income goes toward rent payments, according to a recent Redfin-commissioned survey. 19% of renters report they have worked a job they hated to afford rent.

Just over one in five (22%) U.S. renters say all of their regular income goes directly to paying their rent, according to a recent Redfin-commissioned survey.

Working a second job is also a fairly common way for renters to pay housing costs, with 20% of renters citing that method. Nearly the same share (19%) say they have worked a job they hated to afford rent.

The survey findings in this report are from a Redfin-commissioned survey conducted by Ipsos in September 2024, fielded to 1,802 U.S. residents aged 18-65. This report focuses on the 894 renters who answered this question: Which of the following actions have you taken, if any, to help afford your rent payments? Respondents could select all that apply from a list of options, which are all listed in the chart.

One in seven (14%) renters have used a cash gift from family to pay rent. Renters also report dipping into money that was earmarked for retirement to pay their housing costs. More than one in 10 (13%) pulled money out of retirement funds early, and 12% contributed less to retirement savings.

While U.S. rents have flattened out over the last year, rents are much higher than they were before the pandemic. Because rental prices have surged faster than wages, it’s more difficult than it used to be for Americans to afford rentals, particularly lower-income Americans. Rental affordability may improve in the near future, with prices already showing signs of losing steam as more newly constructed apartments come on the market.

Even though it’s difficult for many Americans to make their rent payments, renting is a popular choice because affordability has become even more strained for people looking to buy a home. A separate Redfin analysis found that the number of renter households is growing three times faster than homeowner households, largely because the cost of buying has increased faster than the cost of renting.

While unfortunate, this is just a precursor of the future and a direct result of the poor socioeconomic leadership and poor parenting skills of the “worst generation” aka the baby boomers.

Do you - :eek::eek:(gasp) - 50/50?
Sad aint it and its crazy cause folks dont understand that family income is needed if you have a family

Folks are out here calling it 50/50 trying to actually make it out here outside of combining their incomes :smh:

They don’t understand the media’s role and their belief is proliferating the propaganda. There are some old white men alive that worked some union job in a Republican county in a Republican state that has a home, a mountain house on a lake, with a boat. The US government subsidizing their wages came at our expense. The minute they passed a couple laws in the late 60s, The Great Migration stopped, and the US government started worrying about “inflation” and worked on destroying the unions the minute they passed laws that allowed us to work in the unions.

Most white women aren’t interesting in working-working per se. Their presence in the job market was just to depress the wages of black people.

The US wants you to believe it’s Avon in The Wire. It wants you to believe this is the introduction to the conclusion of the Barksdale organization. The painful truth is the country is D’Angelo. An oversized turtleneck under a leather jacket corny mothafucka who tries to pretend to kick knowledge to children as his baby moms is fucking the guy who’s going to kill him.

Does Venus have a point? Or is she only speaking to people with "100,000 to 200,000" to put down on a house?

Venus Williams has no idea WTF she's talking about. First off, she's being paid by an investment company so it's no surprise she's advising people to invest their money rather than purchase a home. Home ownership is an investment, a traditionally safe one that has been the foundation of wealth building and upward mobility for years in this country. Secondly, the whole $100-$200K down on a house, that's some California shit. Most people don't have that to put down on a house, hell not even in California. The average American doesn't have enough savings for a $400 emergency, so I don't know where they hell she thinks they have $100K just sitting around to invest in the market.

The idea of the American middle class is not based on a 2 income household. It's actually a single breadwinner, like those 50's sitcoms Donna Reed and Dick Van Dyke. This was a time when all it took was a high school diploma and you could go down to the plant/mill/factory or whatever manufacturing facility there was in your neck of the woods and get a job paying a fair living wage with benefits negotiated by a strong labor union. It wasn't until Reagan and his "greed is good" corporate raiders went to town in the 80's that a 2 income household became a necessity. I don't think marriage is the answer because there's nothing more stressful than two broke people locked into a relationship. It's the leading cause of divorce and just makes finances that much more difficult.

What is the answer then if its not marriage ie a 2 person income. Because this society is not going back to the 50s. And although I agree the Dick Van Dyke era was single breadwinner income those days are over.

How long were the DVD days? What if the image being broadcasted throughout the world was the only point and that era was an anomaly in human history?

The NYTimes just notified me of a story that the educated women of Myanmar are being reduced to sell their coochies.
