Film Review: Transformers One - SLUG Magazine
Transformers One, the first fully animated feature since 1986, is a long overdue course correction for the flailing franchise.
@playahaitian I don't remember if I told you I finally saw this and it was great !
I've been telling people but most of the people in my radius don't go to the movies unfortunatelyBro... the audience needs to go see this. No excuses. Don't blame the studios. Word of mouth critics was all overwhelming positive.
Just watched this.. i.was impressed and entertained.
Went to go see this the other day.
Loved it!
I get why the purists might have some issues with it, but even with that, it was great.
I kinda disliked how suddenly a certain bot turned out & the deux ex machina they used for a certain bot but those are small quibbles. My biggest beef, believe it or not, is...
...how so many classic bots show up but have NO connection to any of the main characters.
I would love to see a sequel, as everything else clicked into place. Even the animation, while kiddie-ish, worked well in action.
Too your spoiler... yes way too quick. It was like a light switch. Should have taken more time to develop into his well known frame of mindI liked it but I wish they made some changes
So after receiving the core form the primes they all turned into wheeled vehicles on a planet where flying is a necessity.
Also how quickly Megatron went from "I will no longer let anyone control my life" to "I will now I will be the dictator in charge" after the bad guy was already killed. The switch was too quick and needed more character development for why he believes ruling with a iron fist was best for cybertron or best for himself.
i did too because the trailer made it seem like toy story version of transformers lol. It's sad that people just ignored this

One of the greatest IPs ever. And they determined to fuck it up.
I feel you.........One of the greatest IPs ever. And they determined to fuck it up.
Im not a numbers guy, but i thought i heard it didn't perform as expected. Im guessing they were looking for the Mario Bros hype.
To me, it's one of if not the best Transformers movie. Coming up in the 80s, im bias towards the first animated movie. The recent Beast Wars movie wasn't bad, but it also had very little to do with Beast Wars. Point is people were so disappointed in the live action movies that they didn't want to see the animated film. Also, the tone of the movie didn't scream kids compared to the Mario movie. Surprisingly, my kids were glued to the screen which is unusual for action animated movies.
Expensive is not the word. You'll end up paying low end $80 to over $150 especially if you don't catch the initial sell and have to go third-party. At that price, it's not a kids toy.Even the very basic Transformers go for around $25. Mid tier is what around $40/50.I saw a good breakdown on somebody's account. The further away we get from the majority of the fandom having a connection to the different eras of Transformers, the harder it will be to retain the number of fans needed to consume the products.
You have the comic fans, the fans of the Bayformers movies, the fans of the various cartoons and the video games Everything had it's way with dealing with the characters to the point where if the comics where your thing, what they've done with the cartoons that are geared more towards whatever the current animation style is copycat way of telling stories that mirror the type of programming that's on, it may be a huge turnoff. Which is the why programming works, but the departure from the feel of what has been established and how they are trying to modernize is night and day.
There have been successful iterations, but they always find their way back to G1. Which the you younger audience isn't as big as the older audience. And the good quality Transformers merchandise is expensive and not in the path of travel of younger folks. And with distributions and dealing with scalpers, it's hard for fans who want and can afford it too. Then it just becomes a hassle to support what you like. Even the bullshit cost too much.
And at the end of it all, studios and executives are doing the same old same old. Fucking everything up
I recall when I was a kid, I broke the front end loader on Scrapper. I used superglue to fix it, but it didn’t work, and he was never the same. I believe I paid around 10 dollars, which was a lot amount of money back in the 1980s for a kid.Not to mention some of them are too complex for kids to transform to the point of them potentially breaking them
Transformers would have been fine if they would have kept it animation based! Live actions fucked it up and just changed a lot of things which made it even more uninteresting. Should have built it on animations like Pixar did/does with its movies; and or dreamworks does…I saw a good breakdown on somebody's account. The further away we get from the majority of the fandom having a connection to the different eras of Transformers, the harder it will be to retain the number of fans needed to consume the products.
