At the end of the day wrestling is just a soap opera for guys.
WWE with Vince in charge (and now AEW) clearly got away from the story-telling aspect of the product and the product suffered as a result.
It really ain't that complicated. Just give the fans compelling storylines with good in-ring action to back it up.

Looks good and as a Joshi fan I'll be checking it out. Dump Matsumoto was one of the top heels of her time. She tagged a lot with Bull Nakano and we're rivals to the legendary "Crush Gals" (Chigusa Nagayo & Lioness Asuka) in the 80's. Will be interesting to see who they got to play Bull and the Crush Gals in this.

They had the storyline right there to end the new day. You could have had Big E backstage calming Woods down and telling him to give Odyssey a chance and he has his blessing in the group. Later in the ring, New Day vs Final Testament on the Mic FT instigates friction between the New Day group. FT enters the ring and gets wiped out by the three members of New Day as they all celebrate Big E comes out to join in. As he approach the ring Woods super kick Kofi, Odyssey is confused and confronts Woods pushes him down and Big E instructs Oba Femi out if the crowd to lay Odyssey Jones out. Alpha Academy comes to help. This will give them a working partnership together Alpha Academy with Kofi and Odyssey. Big E is the manager of Woods, Femi and maybe Apollo Crews. It will be the New Day (face) vs New Day (heels)
 
Trying to be WWE while claiming to be their alternative is going to be their ruin.
Why not focus on growing your American audience, instead of popping international audiences every once in a while?

As a casual I get Mercedes being top. Rest of them dudes I don’t know who the fuck they are to be up there over Swerve. At least he relevant and got ex WWE background and he’s the champ. Young Bucks is ass and corny someone need to say it lol. I see them and immediately turn elsewhere.
