Both Sides: Why we don't fuck with the GOP: Update: Trump’s DOJ closes Eptein case. Says there's no client list.

Every member of the Intelligence community, former and current, should be required to read this book. It’s rather long but the painstaking detail brings a good history of the battle we’ve been waging in the community since the 1920s and more recently with Russia and China.

I would like to know what the new administration will be doing to develop the community to deal with this grave threat to democracy. We all know that Trump wants to destroy our Intelligence capability which will make us more vulnerable to continued active measures on the United States by Russia and China.

I have doubts if the current intelligence apparatus has the skill set to deal with the modern active measures being deployed by our enemies. the people the community should be recruiting are experts in the cyber realm including AI, Communications and language experts in Chinese and Russian. The resources we have poured into the war on terror from the Middle East need to be redirected Eastward.

I don’t know about you but I see no evidence this is happening in the government. In fact the opposite, the community is being undermined by extremist politicians in the senate.

BREAKING: President Biden calls for "three bold reforms" to fix our corrupt MAGA-infected Supreme Court amidst a worsening legitimacy crisis — enraging Republicans in the process.

And it gets even better...

First off, Biden is calling for a constitutional amendment called the "No One Is Above the Law Amendment." It would ensure that presidents do not have immunity for crimes committed while in office.

"I share our Founders’ belief that the president’s power is limited, not absolute. We are a nation of laws — not of kings or dictators," writes Biden.

Biden outlined his proposed changes in an Op-Ed in The Washington Post entitled "My plan to reform the Supreme Court and ensure no president is above the law."

"This nation was founded on a simple yet profound principle: No one is above the law. Not the president of the United States. Not a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. No one," Biden wrote before going on to shred the court's absurd ruling that Donald Trump has presidential immunity from prosecution.

President Biden is also calling for 18-year term limits for the justices instead of the lifelong tenures that they currently enjoy. The current system insulates them from the consequences of their actions and invests them with far too much power.

"It would reduce the chance that any single presidency radically alters the makeup of the court for generations to come," explained Biden.

He also called for implementing a binding and (most importantly) enforceable code of conduct that would require the justices to disclose the gifts they receive and to refrain from public political activity.

This rule would be devastating to crooked justices like Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. The former racked up headlines for blatantly taking bribes from wealthy Republicans and the latter has displayed support for the January 6th insurrection and MAGA more generally.

Biden is also calling for the judges to recuse themselves from cases in which they or their spouses have some kind of conflict of interest.

"We can and must prevent the abuse of presidential power. We can and must restore the public’s faith in the Supreme Court. We can and must strengthen the guardrails of democracy," wrote Biden.

"In America, no one is above the law. In America, the people rule," he concluded.

I can't imagine that this would, but I hope that this doesn't backfire in some weird way. It seems like most people want reform, but I could see ultra-conservatives trying to spin this into some kind of power grab. But heck, if we can't get it done, then that's on us, isn't it?

Jeff Bridges, J.J. Abrams and Mark Hamill are among the Hollywood figures who joined Monday night’s “White Dudes for Harris” Zoom fundraising and organizing rally.
The event, which is being broadcast on YouTube, has currently raised more than $3 million for Vice President Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign.
“I qualify, man. I’m white, I’m a dude, and I’m for Harris,” said Bridges, who played the uber-laid-back character “The Dude” in the Coen brothers’ 1998 film “The Big Lebowski.”
“I’m excited, man!” Bridges added.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Abrams promised during the call to match $50,000 raised from attendees.

More than 140,000 signed up for the gathering, which featured appearances from actors including Hamill, Sean Astin, Josh Groban, Josh Gad, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bradley Whitford.

Democratic officials who participated include Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, all of whom have been considered possible running mates for Harris.
“How often in a hundred days do you get to get to change the trajectory of the world? How often in a hundred days do you get to do something that’s going to impact generations to come?” Walz asked.

“And how often in the world do you make that bastard wake up afterwards and know that a Black woman kicked his ass and sent him on the road, and you know that’s something that guy’s going to have to live with the rest of his life,” Walz said of former President Donald Trump.
Also on Monday, a “Women for Harris” organizing call occurred and included actor Yvette Nicole Brown, “Pachinko” author Min Jin Lee, social activist Gloria Steinem, Chelsea Clinton and more.

“I believed a woman could win in 2016. I believed it with all of my heart,” Chelsea Clinton said of her mother, Hillary Clinton. “I knew in my marrow we had to take Donald Trump both literally and seriously. I believe all of that even more fundamentally today,” she added. “Donald Trump is not theoretical. We now have a record that we can hold him to account for.”
Chelsea Clinton said she believes Harris is “uniquely positioned to lead us into a more hopeful, equitable, just, prosperous and secure future.”
