What Is a Community Health Worker?

Community health workers are trusted members of the community who serve as liaisons between health and social services and the immediate community they are a part of. They advocate for community members, identify resources, and help improve health outcomes.
Through the InTOuCH program, members of the community are trained to be community health workers versed in stroke and cardiovascular disease. Once trained, some community health workers are hired to assist with research studies that address other health issues in the community.
