That's a bad idea in general, because that's government money. But even if you wanted to try it, she should have known that it would raise a flag if she tried to cash in a big money ticket.

She should have had someone she had little/no connection to cashing in stuff anyway, but with that much theft, it was just a matter of time before she got caught.

And folks never seem to get the memo that you can't talk to police. Cops will absolutely pretend to be your friend and that they are doing you a favor if it helps them close the case. As soon as you waive you rights, it's a wrap.
