Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer

Let me share a few more things with the board.
After my PSA came back 12.4, the doctor suggested I get an MRI.
Now, something that I did not know, is that you can have a high PSA number and not have prostate cancer.
After the MRI, it was discovered that my prostate is the size of a grapefruit o_O
A normal sized prostate is the size of a walnut.
Let me add a few more things.
So once it was discovered that I had a super sized prostate, a prostate biopsy was suggested.
This was by far, the worst.
A doctor had to take 18 samples of my prostate.
Took about 45 minutes.
And I was only given local anesthesia, meaning I was somewhat awake during this.
I was numbed up pretty good, but the sound of the machine taking the samples was nerve wracking.
The doctor said I would pass blood in both the stool and urine for a day or two, which I did.
And not pissy blood, this blood was like a cut vein.
Like I said, it was only for a few days, and not painful.

I know some others have questions about having sex after the prostate removal, so I'll try to address those.

First, the doctor performing the surgery stated that with the robotic surgery, most nerves that control erections should be spared, unless the cancer has spread to them. If it has, they will be removed.
First diagnostic showed no signs of those nerves having cancer.

Second, doctor said I probably won't have sex for 3-6 months, maybe longer.
It just depends on how the body heals.

Third, after the prostate is removed, I will have orgasms, but no fluid.
Pretty much "dry" orgasms going forward.
I will have the same feeling but no liquids.
Post reported for faggottry. Nigga nutting inside his self. :puke:

You got this fam! No doubt about it. All ready spoken into existence!

Diagnosed with prostate cancer April 2024 and having surgery on July 1.
The surgery will be a RALP (Robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy)
Complete removal of the prostate.
As black men, this can be a touchy subject.
Fortunately, we can hide behind our screen names to discuss.
A few of my family members know about it, but for the most part, I have been dealing with it with the wife and kids.
My PSA was a 12.4 (below 4 is normal)
If anyone, has questions, I will try to answer them the best I can.
Keep a brother in y'all thoughts!!

Wow.

What were your symptoms?

I keep remembering things, so forgive all these posts

:giggle:

Some may be thinking, why I did not go the radiation treatment.
Well, there is no guarantee that the radiation gets all the cancer, and secondly, mine levels were very low so that option was not available.
I could have just monitored a what for something to happen, but wife and I both decided complete removal was the best option.
Waiting for something to happen also involves having another prostate biopsy.
See earlier post on how that went
Prostate removal also means you will not be able to have children.
No worries for me because I had a vasectomy 20 something years ago.
Now there is another option, where they can remove a partial part of the prostate that's cancerous.
However, if that is done, the option of removing the prostate a later date is not an option, in the cancer returns.

it also removes the ability to buss a nut correct?

@SmoothD I do have a question. Why did they take so long to perform your surgery? Are their things you had to do prior to surgery?
That was the earliest available appointment.
So surgery prep consisted of getting up to date blood work, chest X-ray, EKG, and meeting with the anesthesiologist.
That meeting was to discuss what meds I am taking.
Some meds I had to stop taking a week prior to the surgery.
Aspirin is a no-no because it is a blood thinner.
Also, one of my BP meds I can't take the day of the surgery.
No food after midnight tonight.
Only water.
Also, they requested that I shower with a anti bacterial soap the morning of the surgery.

Just eat a lot of pussy man until you get your dick back. Get well

You got this fam

My father had his prostate removed at age 60.
Saved his life and he's still with us today.
Had two uncles that went the radiation route and it eventually came back and got them .
Removal is the best option 100%
I was with him throughout the entire thing.
Your family will see you vulnerable, and its going to be frustrating.
The recovery is gonna be a really sensitive process.
He had to wear pads for while after.
Being the macho man he is, he didn't like that shit.
The doctors gave him a strict exercise regimen to get his shit back working again.
Daily Kegel exercises etc.
Do everything they tell you to do and you'll be back to normal in no time.

Thanks for this info.
As far as the pads are concerned, I bought some to be on the safe side.
There are boxer briefs you can buy now with the pad already built in.
Got some of those too.
One thing I forgot to mention is that I will have to wear a catheter for the first 5-7 days.
I was told it is not as bad as it seems.
I'm taking about 4-6 weeks off from work too.
