I don't know about this. Wherever people talk about the original "Friday " movie, people always seem to forget that what made it special was the era it was made in. This movie was made in the mid 90's, the world and social climate was different back then. It was way before social media, censorship on language or subject matter and there was no such thing as political correctness. So it's hard to recapture that era in today's social climate and have the same pop culture phenomenon or impact the way the original "Friday" did back then.

"Friday" has always been a victim of its own success. Any subsequent sequels being made, a comparison is always gonna be made to the original. So with that outlook most people have, it's impossible to measure or gauge success of a new film when it's being compared to the original.
