I never saw the allure of Power House in Philadelphia. Killing your brothers and sisters in raps is always topical in the genre. Denigrating your sisters and sexually objectifying them will always be current and hip in the genre. Because the genre isn’t funded by us. Home cooked food always hit longer than Chinese food and McDonald’s. And you always get seconds and thirds. That's on her marketing team not working with her enough to improve on that. They just said fuck it, show your ass and it won't be an issue. Production is lazy as fuck too often nowadays too. We really have to stop thinking like this. This is why very little musical legacy is passed on. We don't pass it down like others do.
Go to a show with white 90s artists (Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Beck, etc.) and you see generations at the shows. White folks bring their teens. Paramore's lead singer pulled a mom and her daughter out of the crowd at a concert in Seattle to help her sing one of her songs and both the mom and the daughter knew all of the words. That shit was great. We have to do that shit so that our artists retain their value, too.
I understand why he feels the way he feels. When he was younger, the crowd listening to him was younger. He was new, hip-hop was younger; the crowd was experiencing them for the first time. He wants that feeling when he performs.
He has to understand how the younger gen moves at shows. Most of them have their cameras out recording. They don't live in the moment like we did. Also, he is not their music; he is their parents' music. They are going to be more hyped about Tyler or Tyga or Jack Harlow or Russ. Those are their contemporaries. That is reality. If they just put on a good show, they will gain some new fans as well as some young gen respect. Blow the young cats off the stage and they will want to be like you. You have to show them why they should respect you.
