So I got caught up in the Serena tik tok after she appeared at the Met Gala. It was interesting hearing the takes but one woman made a good point. This isn't coming from the fact that her makeup / glam team don't know what they're doing. It seems Serena has hired the person that does a bunch of Black celebrities. Her pops wanted her to embrace her blackness in a white dominated sport playing tennis that was racist as fuck but it backfired because of the mental toll it took on her. When I was growing up, I played sports in Philly and New Jersey but it was different because there were a lot of kids that were white on that baseball team in Jersey with a few black kids and myself. So, I'm pretty lucky to not have to be around white people too much that I had people that looked like me in Philly which was a balance. I was more comfortable around my own and even though racism exist in jersey and had to check a few white people including my cousins about using the N-WORD.
