Didn't people laugh at Trump when he asked for 3b?

This is a little "off topic," but I think you'll understand the analogy. About 20 years ago I am "hanging out" with a very good friend of mine during the Holiday season.
So we are sitting in his car in Midtown Manhattan and he's telling me about this bakery that makes very good pies, and how he purchased a pie as a Christmas gift for his boss.
Then he turns to me and asks me did I think it would be inappropriate to get his boss's wife a pie for a Christmas gift.
I paused for a minute and redirected the question and asked him, "What did you get Mrs. Evans for Christmas?"
"Oh, I forgot about her, damn you're right."
Mrs. Evans was the person who got him the job!
PS. I won't go into details, but she told you about the position (because you didn't work there before), and she looked out for you and family prior to you getting the job.
To be totally honest, I met her before he got the job, and she looked out for me!
