You win ! I will not fall into the argument trap . Just a quick question......ah ,what is the name of the beach in upstate NY ?The only thing that movie scene and this accident had in common was that a boat was involved......
LtWB was a different type of boat (tanker maybe) and it ran ashore, presumably due to faulty navigation systems.... in the middle of the day in at an upstate NY beach
This cargo boat ran into a bridge support due to loss of power, a dropped anchor.....current.... in the middle of the night in a Baltimore port...

Should the insurance company be responsible for rebuild
Hey, you could have a high-grade of pillars, but if the ship hits it at the right point, (especially a heavy ass ship like that one) it’s going to break. That’s physics.60 mill is a good start. To build a new bridge, you're looking at 200 mill+. There is no rebuild. They are building a new bridge. And I would assume something with piers that are far stronger.

I can't find it now, but there was an article that said ships are a lot bigger now than they were in the 70's when the bridge was originally built, and are likely to continue to increase in size.
