AEW needs some life and excitement injected back into the company. After Punk got himself fired and multiple top guys are injured there's little to look forward too.

Okada's debut I'm actually not sure about. They may do him at "Revolution". Ospreay will most likely show up at "Revolution".

I'll be at Revolution so I was hoping Mercedes would debut there, but it's obvious now she'll be debuting on Dynamite "Big Business".
I know Okada is a big deal to a lot of fans, but he doesn't do much for me.
Maybe I'll change my mind seeing him in person.
I used to be a HUGE Jericho fan back in the day, but he's gotten too full of himself not to mention he's a closet MAGA-tard.
The allegations and him getting out of shape again doesn't help.
That being said, I can understand why Jericho is the highest paid guy in the company.
Like you mentioned, he was instrumental in AEW getting their TV when they launched.
He is still arguably the most well-known mainstream talent in the company and means a lot when it's time to renew their TV deal.
The problem with Japanese wrestlers coming to US wrestling promotions is that the wrestling that they're doing for American audiences is VERY watered down! So an Okada coming to AEW, hell even a WWE will be a big deal at first but as matches go on, nobody will care. Because those matches have no appeal and don't live up to the hype of how they came in. Brotha @EPDC talked about Jay White's debut in AEW and how everybody told him he would be a good heel (myself included) and he's been shyt!!! What he was doing in NJPW is not the level he's doing in AEW. If you took his AEW matches and his NJPW matches, you'd think the AEW ones were his earlier work. For what it is, it's good, but the expectation of the hype they bring isn't there.
Shinsuke was a MONSTER in NJPW because how stiff they work. You watch Ibushi versus Okada and it's like they tried to KILL each other. I think he'll have three good matches. One with Kenny, Danielson and Moxley (MAYBE Jay White) Dave Meltzer will blow a load for each.
The problem with that style of wrestling is that it eventually breaks down the body of talent doing all that "strong style".
Look at Omega. He's barely 40 and it looks like his body is breaking down due to the way he wrestles.
Bryan Danielson, the same thing.
These older Japanese guys come over on AEW now and look like they can barely walk.
So I don't blame a promotor, who has money invested in the talent, telling these Japanese guys to "water it down" here.

I never cared for heel "Hollywood" Rock when he came back to WWE about 20 years ago.
And if they are still building towards a Rock vs. Roman match down the line at some point, it doesn't make sense to have a heel vs. heel match.

Is it the promoter that is telling them to calm down or the wrestler saying they don't want to do that anymore? A promoter doesn't care! They'll put your body through the meat grinder and not give a damn. I'll create promos and still get my money's worth (see Adam Cole). But the wrestler when you're young you think you're invincible, you keep having these Strong Style Dave Meltzer 5-star Huge Load Meme style ass matches and in your 30's your bodies like: "Fcuk this shyt I'm out!"
Look at it like this Strong Style is a lot like the style of play the Detroit teams (Piston championship teams, Lions, Red Wings) have. Red lining the entire game. That shyt isn't sustainable. It's the reason why Detroit Pistons have only one three titles. That style of play just wears the body into nothing. While Lakers, Celtics and Bulls will have a Dynasty. That style of play will last a lot longer.
Not really true. A promoter "cares" about their investment, and sometimes that investment is in the wrestlers they employ.
Hell look at some of the banned moves on WWE, as big a piece of shit Vince McMahon is, he cared for his investments (money spent on bringing in talent) to ban certain moves, especially when some of these moves caused bodily injury.
That's why some call the WWE style of wrestling "safe style" versus the BS you see in the Indies. Yeah, I doubt Vince McMahon gave a fuck about the people he employed as independent contractors, but he "cared" about the money invested in these independent contractors, selling t-shirts, shows, posters and tickets.
Sometimes wrestlers have to be saved from themselves.
Look at Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan being forced to retire early in WWE. WWE didn't want to see him suffer multiple injuries in their ring.
Now that AEW has signed Mercedes Mone this is what TK needs to do with the division.
- Tony needs to take a step back and bring in someone to book the women's division properly. Hire Scott D'Amore or someone with real experience. It's time to really double down and make this work.
- Mercedes needs to be on TV every week whether she's wrestling or not.
- There needs to be at least two women's matches/segments on every show.
- Get Athena off of ROH and back on AEW TV.
- Britt Baker needs to be Mercedes's first feud/program. Great feud to start right out the gate.
- Introduce the Women's version of the Continental classic tournament.
- Use Stardom's faction format to storytelling. Put every wrestler in a faction and have a top wrestler be the cornerstone of each faction. For example...
Athena's faction
Britt Baker's faction
Mercedes's faction
Shida's faction
Thunder Rosa's faction
Toni Storm's faction
And so forth. Doing this makes it easier to book singles, tags, and trios feuds while also developing on going storylines. Plus it gets more women on tv and it creates an environment where fans can root for a specific wrestler within a faction. Stardom are masters at this.
