We aren't talking about Amazon, Google, etc... This is the wrestling thread. So here we're talking AEW, Impact, NJPW, Stardom and WWE. I am well aware of what businesses have to do in order to become Big Business. Just when here you can shyt on everything you don't like, but catch holy hell when you shyt on something that everyone else likes. Excuses, strawman arguments, everything BUT the thing you like is a shytty place to work, or watch entertainment from a shytty company. You mention Apple, what happens when you mention that you don't like Apple for whatever reason? You get a bunch of Apple consumers that defend them. So what's the difference between them and Apple and you and WWE?

I don't want to come off that I am this morally high person that every Monday refuses to watch WWE. I still watch RAW and SmackDown when I can. That doesn't change the fact that they are a shytty company that doesn't deserve your admiration. BUT I am TOTTALY stealing that Chief of Morality Police! Yeah it DOES add up that this could have been planned.

The Rock on Pat Mcafee's show LAST YEAR admitted Rock vs Roman was talked about for Hollywood WrestleMania 39, but the story or creative wasn't right. When Rock said this online and critics were expecting that MAYBE it would happen this year and pondered what would happen with Cody Rhodes.



Cody Rhodes even addressed it.

Appearing on Busted Open today (Nov. 13), Rhodes said he respects The Rock and would love to have him on the card in Philly. But he’s not worried about The Great One, the Megastar, or anyone else preventing from trying to finish the story. Asked about Johnson’s claim on Pat McAfee’s show that he was at one point “locked” in as Roman’s challenger at WrestleMania 39 before teasing he could fill that role at next year’s ‘Mania, Cody replied:


“I’ll say this about The Rock coming on Pat — which I was watching live because I love Pat — and then SmackDown and all this. The Rock did for sports entertainment so, so much and continues to do so much by being the biggest star in Hollywood that I’m able to be at the level I’m at because I can stand on shoulders like those of The Rock. So he could have come on there and run me down and I still would have the highest respect for The Great One. He’s honestly a model superstar for anybody who wants to just supersede all expectations.
“With that said though, no matter what he said, anyone who did ask me, anyone who did confront me on it — I said I’m not flinching. I’m not flinching. And I feel like if The Rock and I were in the same room, he would expect nothing less from me. If you think it’s somebody else, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure you know it’s me. And that’s the same attitude that The Rock had when he was climbing the ladder.
“I don’t care who it is. If that happens to be The Rock, if that happens to be anybody who comes into this fray. A wonderful superstar like LA Knight. An absolutely stellar performer like Sami Zayn, who him and I went toe-to-toe in a way last year. Line ‘em up and I’m just going to do everything I can to outrun them. I certainly am. Then The Rock appears ON RAW Day 1 and CHALLENGES ROMAN.

You think they would do that if they didn't know the match was coming? They do this as apart of the build for RR AND WM. The Rock then says he wants to sit at the head of the table.

The Rock is then announced being at the table with TKO board of directors.

Now remember Cody's reaction LAST YEAR and look how he ends up giving the title shot to Rock because he had "counsel" with the guy wanting to be the head of the table.

They knew of the match happening BEFORE the Vince news broke out.

This definitely needs to be addressed by WWE in how they book the match.
You're right, The Rock was blown the fuck up in just that little bit of physicality with Jinder.
I know WWE is not looking for a 5-star classic, but how is The Rock going to pull off a half way decent match if he's gassed in less than 2 minutes?
The Rock doesn't have to worry about cardio for his Hollywood roles, he just has to look good. Pause :hmm:

My suggestion would be to have The Rock as a special guest referee in Cody vs. Roman and then The Rock can have some kind of gimmick no DQ match in Saudi or wherever after that against Roman where cardio won't be as much an issue.

Lolz Bad Bunny went a full 25 minutes with Damien Priest.

Rock is a former high level athlete, pro wrestler and bodybuilder. He also has months to get into ring ready shape.

Although I don't expect Rock to pull off a 25 minute classic against Roman, I can see him getting into good enough "ring" shape for a Main Event show against Roman. Then again, like I said earlier, I think WrestleMania plays out a few different ways, Rock being the Special Guest referee not allowing Roman to cheat OR Rock/Roman have a quick match Night One.

Like you, I think he may be the special referee and then we get Rock/Roman at SummerSlam instead, giving Dwayne more time to be ring ready plus an additional four months (after mania) to promote the big Head of the Table match.

Bad Bunny isn't running around with 100's of pounds of muscle! Swinging that weight around gasses you out. Bad Bunny has a more aerobic build versus the Rock and muscles need air. Who will do a concert of bouncing around across a big ass stage. Between the two of them Bad Bunny is in better shape for a wrestling match.

Good point, but I still think Rock will be OK, given his training regiment and background. Match will probably be a 10-15 minute rumble....that's including Roman's and Rock's entrance lolz..

Rock trains for muscle building, not for cardio. Big difference.
How many bodybuilders do you know that are good at any other sport? Rock is essentially a Hollywood bodybuilder now.
And every wrestler says that the only way to get into ring shape is to actually be in the ring, not in a weight room.

If it wasn't a guy that's been at thee pinnacle of pro wrestling, sure...the Rock knows what it takes to get in shape man. He hasn't lost that & I'm pretty sure he's got it all mapped out. They got this all mapped out. It's no coincidence that Jacob is a free agent now. Roman told y'all this is filet mignon, you getting the good stuff. Just sit tight.

He will be ready for a quick match. I see it like the Goldberg Brock match at WrestleMania a few years ago, it went like 6-7 minutes of hard hitting action before they went home.

Roman is a good enough wrestler to carry the Rock.

This dude is 50 and juiced to the gills!!! Unless he's done with the action movies, he's not going to be dropping muscle to properly get in-ring shape. He's gonna look like Hogans loose skin having ass

Bad Bunny will do a 45min to an hour concert bouncing around a stage he's in better shape for a wrestling match. Now the moveset for some wrestlers he wouldn't be able to do, but they put him in a match that would complement him.
 
I don't know why, but seeing this reminds me of Joshi/Japanese wrestling.... Lolz at the over exaggerated reaction.... Such a strange culture...

Well, WWE is definitely acknowledging the #wewantcody movement.
Curious to see if they end up changing plans again and putting Cody vs. Roman.

Wrestlers over the years have purposely put out false information just to see if Meltzer is dumb enough to run with it and print it.
And like 99% of the time Meltzer falls for the trap and posts obviously incorrect information.
He's the leader of the 'Anybody but WWE' cult and he has no connections to WWE so any story Meltzer puts out on the WWE is pretty much just his opinion with little to no facts to back it up.

They should have just had Rock the Dwayne as special guest ref. He could drop Solo when he comes out to interfere. Maybe have Jey come out to stop Jimmy. Then Rock delivers the 3 count on Roman and hands the title to Cody.

Then they'd have a entire year to play out Roman/ Rock head of the table match for next year's Mania.
