This board can be a macrocosm of the real world. Do you know how many of the people on my ignore list are FBA? A good percentage. How can you work with someone like that? I can point out to them until I’m blue in the face about their behaviors of distrust but they’ll never listen to me because I’m indicative of the problem. We live in the era of knee jerk reactions and running with headlines for clicks. Context is in a coma it seems.
Every smart person knew exactly what he meant but couldn’t get past the, “Sometimes I wish I was born Latino..” buzzwords. His post would’ve probably hit differently if he ended with that, instead of starting with it.
Given the context of his post, he’s absolutely right. We the only ones without collective unity in large numbers. Sure, we have a few pockets and examples of unity here and there but overall, we lack severely when it comes to unifying as a collective.
Overall, Tyrese wasn’t wrong in that post and folks understand what he means after reading it but won’t cause of the very thing he’s talking about. Our brokenness and incessant need to be right, mostly always throws the baby out with the bath water regardless how sound the message is, further proving his point.
The irony is palpable.
I was raised in a house to hate the Indian. The Jamaicans, the Guyanese, Saint Lucians; if you were on a spec of dirt in the Caribbean Sea, I grew up hearing bad things about you. The only country that didn’t catch a stray was Barbados probably because it was all black.
