Show me footage of players in the 80s and 90s AT ALL POSITIONS hitting 3 point shots and doing hesi moves. You can't. The mutha fuckas couldn't shoot!!
You literally had "specialists" who's sole job was to shoot since everyone on the team sucked at it. 
Steve Kerr by his own admission couldn't play in the NBA today. Scott Brooks, Tony Bennett, Danny Ainge, etc. all these CACs are coaches and or GM's now.
Now everybody in the league shoots as good as those guys. Luka is 6'9 260 playing point guard, who the fuck is stopping that 20 years ago? You put a big guy on em, he just blows by em and gets a soft floater. You put a little guy on him he just shoots over them or backs them down in the post for an easy turnaround. If you double him he's a legendary passer and will just find the open man. He had 7 assists last night and only took 33 shots. He was hitting 3's 30 feet out. And you dumbasses talkin bout no defense.
I’m getting tired of the “no defense” claims myself when the reality is the players now are just much better. No, if you watch and are involved with young people you would know this.
Kids are more skilled, because they do more individual training, however they play less team ball and are lacking a lot of fundamentals. Their response if you can't stop what I'm doing, why should I broaden my bag?
How many 6'8 players can shoot a step back, but can't get a basket in the post that isn't a layup or dunk? Instead of being four and five level scorers, it's become a game of two level scorers.
It's two different things. Kids today don't even know what a defensive stance is going into college but can emulate Steph and Harden.
Look at Jalen Johnson on Luka last night and how contested Luka's shots were. It's become acceptable to give up a basket, so we can get back on offense and try to score.
I was looking at a OTE game last night and that shit looked like an all star game.
So yeah, to the layman, you see a 6'10 player with handle and a shot at 25 feet, he's more skilled, but the muthafucka can't even shoot a jump hook with his right hand, much less left.
I'm torn on this shit. Is it good basketball or shitty defense? When Kobe did it, the team needed every one of those baskets. Kobe might have gone for 80 or 90 a month before his 81 in a game against Dallas. But the game was so outta hand by the end of the 3rd, that Kobe didn't touch the floor in the 4th.
I can't speak too much to this latest Booker performance, but Kat's 62 was definitely stat chasing over team success.
There were points in that game where you could see the coach losing his damn mind on the sidelines. At one point he was waving his arms like crazy and it looked like he was yelling "swing, swing", but Kat had that man on ignore.
Wasn't there a bubble playoff game where Dame dropped 60+ in a lost. In the post game presser, he said he didn't even realize in the moment he had that many points. He was out there trying to win the game. That Dame performance might have been the last truly organic 60+ game.
Organic in the sense that Dame was chasing stats because he wasn't even paying attention to them in the 1st place. He just wanted to win the game.
The last time Booker went for 70+, that game was over half way thru the 4th, but they kept Booker in until he crossed the 70 point mark. They had no expectations on walking out of there with a win.
Nobody is saying that today’s players aren’t better but the defense has been neutered. I’m tired of folks acting like players are going out here every night trying to lock the opposing player down. The excellent shooting we are seeing is also due to increased space. Folks got tired of seeing Tony Allen lock niggas up. You ain’t gotta clothesline or grab a mf to play good defense. But they do let the offensive player push off and smack defenders hands away etc
But by all means, continue to ignore those facts and just say “players are better”

Yes players are more talented today than in the past but it's the rules associated with NBA basketball that's the issue.
It's not that they're not playing defense, it's just their limitations on playing defense because a fouls will be called.

Rivers lured to Bucks by shot at championship
Doc Rivers said the prospect of coaching two superstars in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard and a chance to win a championship convinced him to take the Bucks job.
Enter Milwaukee, where he was an All-American at Marquette in the 1980s and has his retired jersey number hanging in the rafters at the Bucks home arena, and consider the team he inherits: with two superstars in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard and a chance to win a championship.
"You know the answer. Giannis, Dame. Really, that's the answer," Rivers said at his introductory news conference on Saturday morning. "Like, you look at their team. What is it, eight teams that have a legitimate shot [at a championship]? And I don't know if it's that high, but the Bucks are one of them, right?
"The other thing is the way they're built with the veterans and their grown-ups. I thought that if you're gonna jump into this at this time of the year, this would be a type of group that you have the best opportunity to connect and change the quickest."
Rivers was introduced at a news conference sitting next to Bucks general manager Jon Horst on Saturday morning, three days after Horst sat at the same table to talk about dismissing Griffin only 43 games into his first-year as coach despite a 30-13 record. While Rivers acknowledged he and Griffin have spoken on multiple occasions -- "Adrian and I are good friends... I wanted him to do well," Rivers said -- both he and Horst denied Rivers had been employed by the team before this week.
Earlier this week, Horst said he wanted a coach who could maximize the Bucks talent and appeared thrilled Saturday about being able to get a deal done with Rivers so quickly.
"This has been a difficult couple of days, but a great couple of days," Horst said. "We talked a few days ago about identifying a coach who could lead and maximize this team's talent in a window where we have a real chance to compete. We found Doc, we talked to Doc, we went at him with urgency as we talked about, and it's my honor today to be here and sit with Doc and introduce him as the next head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks."
The Bucks finish up the second half of a back-to-back on Saturday night when they host the New Orleans Pelicans, but Rivers confirmed he will make his coaching debut on the road Monday night against the Denver Nuggets.
Rivers observed the Bucks game on Saturday night from a suite in the arena, a 112-100 loss to the Cavaliers, along with his new assistant coaches, Rex Kalamian and Dave Joerger, and he spoke optimistically about the talent on the roster, but also the challenge they faced.
Beginning Monday, the Bucks will have 36 games remaining in the regular season before the playoffs begin.
"I've never done this. I wouldn't with this on anyone, I can tell you that, just from the day-and-a-half," Rivers said. "It's going to be a challenge. It's a challenge that I'm running towards. We've got to get organized quickly. Can't try to do too much too soon. We're in the middle of a season, so we've got to try to keep our rhythm.
"There are changes that we have to make, there's no doubt about that. We'll start working on it immediately."
One big change Rivers noted from this job compared to his previous stops was the culture of the team. In Los Angeles and Philadelphia, Rivers said he believed he was hired to change the culture of the team as much as coach the games. But he thought Milwaukee already had a solid foundation, it was his job to just coach.
And this was be the 25th consecutive NBA season where Rivers will be a head coach, starting before the 1999-2000 season with the Orlando Magic. The Bucks will be the fifth franchise to hire Rivers as head coach.
"I don't know if I have anything to prove except I want to win," Rivers said. "I like winning. I like putting myself in those situations.
"I've been through everything, I really have as a coach. That's what's so great about coaching. There's a lot of highs, there's lows, and you work through them and you learn from them always. At the end of the day, this is a relationship business. Your job as a coach is to get some of the guys to do some of the things they don't want to do.
"You're not gonna be popular all the time and that's fine, you have to accept that when you accept a leadership role. That's just part of it. But if you can get the buy-in and get everybody to buy in and be on the same page, then you can have some success."
