He better fix the sound

He better fix the sound

I just don't understand how they let it get to theaters like that.

All that money and focus on the visuals / effects, yet it's all wasted because the audience can't understand a damn thing being said......

Like there was an audio supervisor/ engineer whose job it was, was to make sure the audio was good.......

Just wow

For whatever reason Nolan intentionally has that sound and has had the same complaints in other films such as Banes voice and sound in Dark Knight Rises.

Its wild

I have met actual projectionists and people who install the sound for movie theatres go damn near apoplectic talking about that man and his sound quality. I forget how they specifically tried to explain EXACTLY why the sound is bad and how easy it is to fix. But it got way to technical. All I know is apparently its all EGO on Nolan part.

I’ve heard reviewers and critics say they just wait to watch Nolan’s stuff at home to use CC to read the dialogue.

Even though they would rather watch it on the big screen or imax, but it pisses them off too much each time missing chunks of dialogue.

Dude is a movie snob, he makes the audio on his movies for high end surround sound theatres not us poors with only a sound bar.

Not really.
Nolan's not a fan of Dolby Atmos.
It's been a major complaint among serious Home Theater/Physical Media collectors about his films.

Nolan prefers "5.1/Dolby Digital/DTS" for the Physical Media releases as well as the theatrical presentations.
Nolan feels that anything higher than "5.1" takes away from the visual experience.
(Especially since he's been shooting with those expensive and heavy IMAX cameras)
At least that's what I've always read about sound presentation when it comes to his views.

Videophiles who spend all that money on multiple speaker set-ups are just wasting money in most cases anyway.
I have a Nakamichi ShockWafe 7.1.4 set-up.
For a NYC Studio Apartment, it's fine.
(Though I've been eyeing the Samsung 990C or the Sony HT-A9 sets of late).
I bought "TENET" on 4K as soon as it was released.
Because I wasn't vaccinated at the time of its initial IMAX run.

“It’s Not A Puzzle”: Christopher Nolan Addresses “Frustration” Over Movies Like Tenet

Christopher Nolan believes that understanding every detail in his films is not necessary; it's about experiencing them. Nolan says that audiences aren't meant to understand everything in Tenet , which has proven to be his most divisive recent film. Tenet was criticized for being too difficult to follow, but it features some standout set pieces and filmmaking.

Director Christopher Nolan has a history of having bad sound mixes in his movies going back to Dark Knight Rises. In fact, he was forced to re-do Banes audio because in the original mix he no one could understand what the fuck he was saying.

I don't know what the issue is and why he does it, but since he's Christopher Nolan studio heads don't really fuck with him about it, with that one exception that I am aware of.

I was shocked he didn't have any sound issues in Oppenheimer, nor did anyone seem to complain about any.

For BGOL Peeps who live in NYC,
My Broadway/68th IMAX spot
EVERY FUCKIN' Showing of the "TENET" Reissue is practically SOLD OUT!!!
Only part of those first front row seats are left.
Looks like I'm going to miss out...A-FUCKIN'-GAIN!!!
Nolan and Villeneuve have completely changed the IMAX game now.
Because it's the same with "DUNE 2" for the first few weeks.

I guess I should be glad that I had enough foresight to invest in IMAX stock a few years ago.
