Beer sales in the US are expected to plunge to their lowest level since 1999 — largely due to Bud Light’s massive falloff after its disastrous tie-up with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, industry experts said.

Sales declined by more than 5% in the first nine months of the year, dragged down not only by the backlash and boycotts against Anheuser-Busch-owned Bud Light but the changing habits of younger drinkers, according to Beer Marketer’s Insights.

Bud Light sales have steadily declined each month by 25% to 30% since Mulvaney’s now-infamous posts touting the brand on April 1, according to industry data.

The Mulvaney fiasco unseated Bud Light as the No. 1- selling beer in the US after two decades of dominance.

While other beers grabbed some of Bud Light’s market share — with Constellation Brands’ Modelo unseating Bud Light and Molson Coors’ brands Coors Light and Miller Lite seeing upticks — their growth did not make up for Anheuser-Busch’s declines.

“This year in particular AB is driving the decline in the industry,” David Steinman, vice president and executive editor of the publication, told The Post.

Anheuser-Busch-owned brands, which include Budweiser, Michelob Ultra and Busch, have also been hurt by the boycottsand represent 35% of all beer shipments to wholesalers in the US. Meanwhile, Molson Coors’ and Constellations’ growth accounted for just 30% of Anheuser-Busch’s losses, according to Steinman.

Bud Light’s woes show little sign of abating despite a renewed marketing push targeting its traditional male audience — including a recent commercial featuring NFL legends Peyton Manning and Emmitt Smith.

For the four weeks ended Dec. 9, Bud Light’s retail store sales were down 28% compared with the same period a year ago, according to a Wall Street Journal report, citing data from NielsenIQ and Bump Williams Consulting.

Overall beer sales have also been hit as millennials and Gen-Zers ditch the brews for other alcohol-infused products like canned cocktails or simply drink less than previous generations.

Sales of craft beer, which emerged as a huge growth engine in the late ’90s, have also been down for three of the past four years, according to Steinman.

“This is an industry-wide, five-alarm fire,” Craig Purser, president of the National Beer Wholesalers Association, said in a speech to wholesalers at a convention in October, according to the Wall Street Journal report.

However, a Molson Coors spokesman said concerns about the beer industry are overblown.

“It’s not so much a beer problem as it is a Bud Light problem,” the rep told the Journal.

A lot of beers is not selling other than Bud light. Those Mexicans still drink it but all in all this is a good thing. Some parts of this country is starting to pay attention, sober

Beer is nasty that’s why. People drink that trash because they are told it’s manly . Nobody likes the taste of that garbage but get used to it and become alcoholics and all of a sudden claim to love beer and all the “notes” and “hops” FOH with that shit, you want a “fruity note” go drink some juice or something that actually tastes good then smoke weed if you want to feel high . It’s better for you than that trash that kills your insides .

You crazy. Bud Light Platinum is good, my pops gave me beer as a toddler probably why I fuck with it

To me, alcohol ain't delicious but I love to drink. Period. I do love the burn of whiskey in the throat, but hate waking up with the smokey nasty flavor still in my mouth. I love the euphoric feeling of alcohol. I like that if I stop I can sober up at a decent pace if I drink water. With weed, you high, you high. Its definitely a love hate relationship. I love the feeling, I like the taste (not love), hate the cost of premier drank, love the doors (legs) it can open. Given the choice, beer or spirits, beer loses each time. I don't personally like beer cause it bloats me. A cold beer is great, but that full feeling can kiss my ass.

The reason that the liquor lobby tried so hard to keep weed illegal.
I can see this…

When I was in my late teens we looked forward to get a drink

Now this early to mid teens look for vapes and blunts

Once they get to late teens it’s pills

Well between gummy weed n regular weed plus pills... shitted... they don't all need the beer shit...fucked up...many different businesses have to changeup some stuff.. whatever that is they might wanna bring new people to figure that out..like some new young folk... them old heads gotta go..

Yeah, especially the shit back in the 80s and 90s. I don’t even wanna go through those stories and I never been drunk before I just been around people who did.

Bud Light had nothing to do with it. Beer sales peaked in 2021 and has been falling ever since. Spirits have been outselling it ever since.

AB and the big boys are going to be fine, but craft beer has been suffering and a lot of them are starting to go out of business.

A brewery in Philly is closing down in the next few months. My coworker just sent me the instagram.

A lot of folks are on a health kick also.
I kicked social drinking going on 2 yrs now. There was a point in my life where i drank everyday. Sometime at lunch time and after work.
I did start smoking weed about 4 yrs ago and i do prefer that now. I cant deal with the all day recovery of alcohol anymore. I started running as well and i like to get up early in the morning and get it out the way, cant be hungover for that.I will fuck up some jack daniels if im at a game or concert tho

Oh there’s a smell , depends how it’s cut . Sometimes like Diesel fuel or burnt plastic or rubber. Or are you talking about something else?
Well damn. When I say the stuff you can't smell I'm not referring to nose candy. I'm talking about pills and sizzurp.

I enjoy a good ipa or stout, but the older I get, the more filling that shit gets. Anything past 2 beers feels like a meal replacement shake.

If I’m going to drink I want the shit to taste good. I don’t give a fuck , I will drink those sweet cocktails with the Mexican salt around the rim because it’s good as fuck. I don’t care who thinks it’s womanly . They can Eat a dick I will order a Barbie Cocktail with extra cherries in it. Say something
